I thought that we will number three in the draft.

You could be. Who's to say you would take Dumba from three though? Could be Galchenyuk, or Murray, or Forsberg?

Edmonton will take a serious run at last again. Still two games left vs the Jackets. Could be crucial.

Murray and Forsberg arent so good. Dumba is more better than Murray. But you are right with Galchenyuk.

How many damn #1 picks is it going to take for Edmonton to not suck so bad? This is about as bad as the Jackets can play, until our recent winning streak, and we still can't shake the stench of their suck. We've only sucked this bad once, they do it on a yearly basis.

Looks like they are going to improve on their 62 points, at least. Maybe a whole 68 points.

We've only managed one 3 game or more winning streak and something like 3 or 4 2 game winning streaks and they still can't get a firm hold on the 29th spot.

Edmonton doesnt want to risk that we would get Grigorenko and fight for his draft because he has enough wings... Hall, Eberle, Paajarvi.

This is a (long) wonderfully written piece about Don Cherry, and his role in modern hockey:

My favorite part of the article:

And I realized, then, why I like Don Cherry: He is the only hockey personality on television who never lies.
That'll ultimately be why he's off the air. Whenever I watch him, I immediately think of a really gregarious version of Andy Rooney.

Has anyone done an article on Don Cherry's role in keeping blind tailors in business?

What a battle for the last playoff spot in the West. 4 teams at 78. one with 79. Nice win for the Kings last night. if we hadn't got uppity and beat them they would be one point clear in 8th. of course if the clock hadn't stopped, yada, yada, yada.

Colorado just picked up at least one point with under a second left.

Watching Landeskog play tells me if we trade away a chance to draft Yak or a similar talent we have more poop for brains than I thought.
Young talent can make a difference.

The dude reminds me of Forsberg.. Downie and Varlamov are real deals too. That was a great game, both teams are fighting their guts out to make the playoffs just to likely play the Rangers or Blues in the first round..

So far in the Coyotes game tonight, Klesla and Brule have a goal each and Vermette and Whitney both have multiple assists (two for Vermette, three for Whitney).

Torres hasn't yet tried to kill anyone via maiming, but there's still the third period to go.

For every Landeskog, there are 20 who aren't ready. Maybe more.

It's unfair to the kid and the organization to cherry pick one of the best and make that the expectation.

Only 7 of the first 30 NHL rookies listed here are 19 or under, about 30%. I didn't check all 179 NHL rookies for age and there's probably 1000's in the minors signed but not in the NHL yet so you are probably correct.

Looking back at the drafts since 2000, DiPietro is the worst 1 or 2. And he is injury prone. The next worst is James VanRiemsdyk (sp?) followed by Jordan Stahl. The others the Blue Jackets would kill to have. Not that they wouldn't take Stahl or JVR.

In my opinion, it is not unfair or unreasonable to expect Yakopuv and whoever goes #2 to live up to his billing. And btw, regardless of who picks Yak the expectations are going to be very high and he will have to deal with it . This is the NHL not pee wee where you get a trophy for showing up.

And if he doesn't live up in year one then for sure he should in year two. I wasn't saying that next year he should be as good as Landeskog-just that drafting 1 or 2 should yield a very good player in the very near future.

Big game in WPG for those with Eastern Conference interests... GO JETS! For tonight anyway..

That said, the Jets and their crowd get way to much consideration from the refs... at times it's not fair actually.

If someone thinks the Jackets defense is bad... Hainsey-Clitsome is the 2nd defensive pair for the Jets.

Clitsome had 16 minutes of ice time tonight and WPG beat the Caps... Oh, Noel won too.. Seems like the entire league is fed by the Blue Jackets cast offs..

Filatov hits a rock bottom. He was kicked out of the CSKA junior team "Red Army" after their 1st playoffs game. Russian Junior League (MHL) is something between CHL and AHL.

It was because he only "skated", he had two games there and 4 points, more than other players (excpet Gusev who has 4 too). But I saw the game and "skated" the whole team in the first play-off game. IMO he was better than Kugryshev (too from CSKA and 1990 y.) or the whole first line (Gusev--Prokhorkin--Kucherov), respective he "skated" more than these players. But I understand they expected that he will try and not only "skate". I am very dissapointed with him, very, with his attitude in Krasnaya Armiya he doesnt want to play there and shows it. But Kucherov is injured, if seriously I am interested who will play in the next game.

He had only 8(4+4) points in 18 games for the main CSKA team in the KHL and everyone was very disappointed with his game. After playoffs elimination they send him to the MHL and he acts like a primadonna.
He had 3 points in the meaningless last game of the regular season and scored a meaningless goal in the 1st playoffs game when the Red Army already was down 1:5. I suppose he was kind of cancer for the team cause without Filatov Red Army won the 2nd game in OT and tied the series.
His career is going downhill pretty fast.

I think Filatov's problem is that he thinks everything should come easy for him, or be handed to him. He does not want to work for success.

Too bad. Until he learns this, he will continue to fail.
