ESPN Insider ranked the top 12 drafted prospects playing in Europe this season. Happily surprised to see Maxim Chudinov making the cut at #12, ahead of guys like Petrov and Armia. I'd link it, but not sure the rules regarding insider content
Good to see, especially since most consider our defense prospect pool as being one deep.

Chudinov has an interesting skillset from what I have read. Very good puck moving skills, but he also plays a bit on the edge. He definitely is not afraid of being physical for a small guy.
Pretty good cant wait to see Spooner and Knight next year. I think they will be better than Caron and Pouls. Higher upside i mean I hope atleast one of them makes the team out of camp i would hate to see one both of them get the Kampfer treatment up and down everyday.
I know the yeti is folklore here, but in all honesty if he came over, I think he'd be a very successful nhler and player for us...
On what line?
It's seems unlikely that he would be better than anyone on the Bruins normal top 3 lines except maybe Pouliot and I don't think he would be good as a 4th liner.
He should have come over two years ago when the Bruins couldn't buy a goal.
There could be a vacancy at third or fourth line centre, depending upon Kelly/Campbell negotiations. I'd like him to at least compete at TC. He seems to have the skill set and the experience.

Why would it be unlikely? Look at his stars. He's been beasting it up, even moreso since his career threating injury. If he comes over and competes? Who's the say he won't make it? Paille, Campbell, Kelly, Caron, Poo-he's obviously better than them. Some might not even BE on the team next year.
Its all speculation right now. If he chooses to come over and compete, and they feel he won a spot, then he'd get a spot. If not, Spooner and Knight will be stepping up.
Its just a wait and see game with Soderberg, once again.
Who's Solderberg? That New England Patriots OL rookie's evil twin?
we were watching the Baby B's last night and my kid is asking me all these questions about the prospects on the Penguins and I have the dog watching TV look, and she blurts out 'Kirk would know all this stuff.'
She thinks you are the NHL version of Mel Kipper imo- I miss that Draft Watch stuff and she wants you to make a deal with RL and do both

Yeah... SHE wants that.
You know what? Her, me, and hundreds of others BOTH.
Not that I don't understand WHY that isn't practical... But that was probably my favorite site to visit in the last decade. Incredible stuff.
Jokipojat advanced to the finals, where they will take on defending champion Sport.
First game in the Finals went into OT, thanks to some nice goaltending by Lars Volden. Sport emerged on top after getting their 44th sog past him, but until that point B's prospect was solid and is playing with a lot of confidence atm.

what do you see his potential being? solid back-up? have never seen him and know very little about him
As you may know he is one of the Bruins "minor" prospects. He was selected back in 2010 sixth round by Bruins.
No he is playin in Mestis (Finlands second highest serie) in a team called Jokipojat. We have Finals Sport-Jokipojat and Volden is he's team starting goaltender. In semifinals he carried he's team to finals. Last night he looked REALLY good even thought they lost 1-0. He made 43/44 saves and the only goal he allowed was in OT.
If he can play next couple years like this he will be an NHL goaltender. He is big, covers a lot of space, he is physical, has terrific glove hand. He handled pressure really well. He might turn out to nugget. Let's hope best!
Due shortly is the OHL's coaches poll on the best players in the OHL in a variety of areas.
Brock Otten, who posts here once in a blue moon, who covers the OHL extensively puts in his two cents worth and with no surprise, you'll find Ryan Spooner and Dougie Hamilton on the list in a couple of categories.
Most interesting is Ryan Spooner on the list as one of the best penalty killers. Not surprising though as I thought his defensive game rose to a whole other level under the guidance of Todd Gill in Kingston, and carried it over to Sarnia.
Missing, under best faceoffs (will have to talk to Brock about this ) is Jared Knight. While there is no official stats, my own say Knight is on a 80% clip (although he only takes draws on one side of the ice).
Don't be disappointed when you don't see Dougie as the best defensive defenseman. He comes in second in the East (and we talked about this the other day) probably 4th or 5th in the league. Still an awesome placing for him.
As usual, thanks Dom, I get pumped when I see you've posted in a topic
4th or 5th best defensemen is extremely good for Dougie when you consider the offensive pace he's been on.
is marc savard a good comparison for ryan spooner, dom? Everytime i see spoons play he reminds me of savvy
Don't like to make comparison's but....
Spooner is a better skater, but won't have Savvy's offense. Both were known for not being very good defensively and both learned the craft, although Savvy much later, but I give the edge in that one to Spooner. Don't think Spoons has his vision or elite passing abilities.
That's not to take away from Spooner at all. When comparing anyone to Savvy, you are comparing to one of the best passers in the game and a lot of players will come in second in that category.
Spooner will be just fine. He learned one of the things he was lacking and did that in spades. The only thing lacking now is size. Unfortunately, that can't be taught. But he'll do just fine.
