Seto's still on pace for 20 goals. I was hoping for 25 from him IIRC, but considering the lack of support since we lost an entire line, I consider 20 acceptable.

He's not what expected, but he's a decent Miettinen replacement. Needs a good setup man.

Wouldn't he be on pace for around 25 without his injury?

Yes on pace for 25 over 82 games.

I think his only real problem is that if he isn't in position to shoot the puck he tends to make poor decisions about what to do.

I've gone into his problems before. He's not what expected yet not a full-on bust. Would like to see him next year with some better talent in the top six, what can he do, etc.

It is quite surprising. They've got very similar production even career-wise. Seto's first NHL season was a lonely high peak thus far.

He's a better skater and shooter but I liked Miettinen's two-way game and playmaking a little better. I'm surprised Mittens has struggled as much this year.

I was just sayin that Seto needs a set up man and Miettinen was some kind of a set up man. I don't know what happened to him. He never was a first liner, but don't know if his confidence has collapsed for good or what.

It's a bit sad because I liked Mittens as a decent two way winger with had some hands too. Not a shooter, though

completely agree with this. And as i've said all year (getting back on topic) Heatley is actually a pleasant surprise. I never really believed he was a selfish dick or anything like Ottawa fans keep saying but I wasn't really expecting him to be as active defensively as he's been and comparing him with Havlat he looks all the better for the difference in attitude.

Not to beat a dead horse but I was really worried about whether or not he hustled every shift, every game, etc. I questioned his work ethic when the goin got tough...and the goin has certainly got tough this year...

I still say that we fleeced San Jose on the Havlat/Heatley trade.
Sure we took a bigger cap hit, but it's a non-issue for us.

Heatley posted 20 goals this year
Havlat posted 2...

Yeah, Havlat got injured, but wasn't that kind of expected? Had we had a healthy team, I see no reason that Heatley wouldn't have gotten 30+ goals.

IMO this trade nearly made up for the Leddy disaster. (And I'm still a fan of the Burns trade too)

I don't know how anyone can argue Heater for Havlat isn't an all time epic win for MN. Maybe SJ didn't need him in the line up as they had others to do his job I guess, but from a Minnesota standpoint this was too awesome.

Heatley has been an absolute trooper here. Hopefully he can have the same attitude for the remainder of his contract here.

As far as seto goes we have to remember that we didn't trade seto for BB straight up. We got Seto, San Jose's best prospect (a guy obvoiusly the wild coveted), and we moved up what was perceived to be about half a round in the draft to grab phillips. Seto was an important part of the deal, but only a part of it non the less. If either the sharks GM or GMCF thought he was a 30 goal/yr guy we would have been looking at a seto for BB straight up trade,(~).

He has had a rough season. Traded from a perennial cup contender, injuried, plagued by an inconsistent lineup, low-moral, puking on the bench, etc. I think all of that clouds the fact that he is on a 25 goal pace over a 82 game season. He very well could have the same pace next year and garner a completely different reception.

If things settle down with this club and we get a more consistent, skilled lineup around seto I still think he can be a very nice complementary player that can flip between the 1st, 2nd, and 3rd line depending on the situation. Like many have said, he isn't going to make those around him all that better and he isn't gonna carry the team on his back (see this year). But he has speed and he can score - two things that wild can not afford to give up.

i would be very intrigued by a healthy line of
Seto-Granlund-Lats

I don't know how to post a YT vid so I'll go with the link.

Apparently Ottawa doesn't care for Heater like we do! This guy has some other pretty funny videos too. Got a good laugh from them. Note: There is quite a few f-bombs.
