I want Roy as coach, no matter who we draft.

Choosing your coach to appeal to a single 18 year old who may not even play on the team next year would be a pretty poor move IMO. If you actually want him anyway and we just happen to choose a player he has been coaching then that would be a bonus.

He'd also sign Marc-Edouard as a UFA.

Sign Frederick as his Sean Avery.

Sign Jonathan to sing the anthem.

He would also ask Anthony Duclair to tell to every other team that he is 100% sure he's going to play in the KHL so he can grab him in the 3rd round.

you acutally think Grigo could still be in the minors next year? No way. Players are getting better at a younger age every year, and if there were any skeptics as to worrying about their size, just look at what Skinner and RNH have shown us, let alone Stamkos, Tavares, Kane, etc.

Not only was the that most insignifcant part off my post, you can't guarantee a guy will make the jump at 18 no matter where he was picked in the draft. People were willing to trade our first this year for Huberdeau but he isn't in the NHL this year and Florida had tons of question marks on their roster coming into this season. How can you possibly guarantee any pick will be in the league next year?

Also what if he would benefit more from the Seguin style first year? Roy has never had to balance developing teenagers with giving playing time to the men and what if he has to much trust in Grig and hurts his development by putting to much pressure on him?

Despite how this post may make it look I definitely believe Grigs is the guy we should draft and Roy would be a pretty good choice for HC, its just the notion of hiring Roy to appeal to an 18 year old seems really short-sighted.

I would like Roy as coach no matter what. I'd actually be surprised if we drafter Grigs even if he was available at our turn tough.

Well... depending on the spot we pick and the players left... Nash despite his large $ contract, is Rick Nash, you know what you're getting... and he's only 27. With a draft pick.... it's not 100% certain.

And the Habs need more a big skilled shapshooting winger than a 18 y old center.

By most accounts Grigorenko is a copy of the enigmatic Kovalev and doesnt play at all some nights... we dont need this. And having Roy wont make him work more since he already takes 'nights off' with Roy as his coach so...

Wouldn't it be the other way around anyways?

Our GM and coach would be named before the draft.

I know he most probably wouldn't accept the position but I want Patrick to be the President of this hockey club. I know he will want to either coach or manage

Yeah probably. Still if we know we are picking 2nd and get Roy as a coach then its clear Grigorenko is going to be the target.

Got a feeling that was a really dumb post.

And got another feeling that Mr. I coach junior but I'm good enough to coach the Habs Habs Patrick Roy would be a disaster.

But hey, that's just me.

I don't want either of them unless Roy suddenly shows to be a top junior coach and beats Shawinigan and St.John in the playoffs and Grigorenko shows he can go in traffic and compete even when things are not clicking.
