Curse you Tom Renney! (EDITED)

I just watched the Oilers get royally screwed out of a goal. The Refs called of the goal saying that Gagner intervered with Varmalov! The Referee is calling this to ensure that the "playoff team" Colorado stays in the hunt. NOBODY BUT PETRY detested this ******** call. That's why this team is a bunch of losers. We are playing for nothing!! Am I the only one who thinks Renney should have thrown a god damn stick at the referee for the most ******** call of the year. F-the refs, F-Renney and F-the Oilers organization!! It's one thing being a sucky ass team, but it's another being a ******** throw rug of an organization with no respect or fight back. I would have rioted after this no call, with or without something worth fighting for.

Fine lock it up, just proving a point. Sometimes a coach needs to make a stand. This would have been an example of when to do it. Do it for the team.

Not about pointing a finger today. (thank you for the title edit mods) more about letting the players know that despite not having anything to play for (playoff wise) as a team we can still stand together and fight. Renney has never displayed this. Would it not have been nice for the players to see Renney display some emotion towards the ref/game?

Sure. Get a bench minor, shorthand your team and personally cost your team a game.

Was it a bad call? Sure. But no matter how much of a hissyfit you have, it's not going to change their minds.

It'll still show the team you care

Basically every good coach does this. They might not blow a gasket but they do a lot more than Renney does

A bench minor? Wow who cares!!! What the Oilers are going to lose another game? I would agree with you if we were fighting for 8th place. Cooler heads should prevail and bite your tongue. BUT we are playing for the future right now. Your telling me that if Renney BLEW UP and threw a hockey stick at the Refs and the Oilers started absolute chaos for the rest of the game the league would not have taken notice? Katz can pay the fine for all I care. Heck he's paying Horcoff 5+million a year. Show some life or players like Hall will leave and I would not blame him

I think it's either not in Renney or he doesn't want to raise a stink because he wants an extension and doesn't want to look like he's come unhinged.

Meaning he doesn't want to show that he has any passion for the game? He overplays useless vets.... wait ... I've ranted over Renney enough times this year.

I agree with the OP.

Probably right on with the former. I would love to see a coach next year who might be able to ignite some passion but still promote our young guns and their creativity. (Crawford are you around?)

See the thing is, I agree that he should be showing some emotion on the bench. But, c'mon, throwing sticks on the ice? If he does that, the Oilers are still down 2-1, give up a PP and what happens if they score? You go out, pop up a thread saying "Renney's an idiot!!! He cost us the game!!!" And all of his detractors come in and jump on the bandwagon with a good reason.

You've already said it, cooler heads should prevail.

I don't know what to think of a guy like Crawford on our team. I serving Crawford in North Van something like 10 years ago. Was hilarious. My eyes lit up with shock, but I kept my mouth shut. It was os obvious that I thought it was cool that I was serving Vancouver's head coach. The look on his face reeked of "please keep your mouth shut".

Have to agree with the OP. Renney would have preferred to take Gagner and Hemsky aside and give them a great big hug instead of arguing a ridiculous call. Interesting....the guy says he pulls his goalie when we're down by 3 to show that the coaching staff hasn't given up on the team. And then when they get screwed out of a goal....silence. Unbelievable.

I agree with you 95% of the time. I would agree that when faced against adverstity cooler heads should and will prevail. However, this game today only has meaning if the Oilers learn something from it to take to next years campaign. All we learned was that the refs can continue to dictate games, and that players like Hall and Ebs who have a desire and passion to win are not supported by their head coach. Maybe throwing a stick is not the answer, but who on the Oilers bench showed that they cares? Why not call a timeout and talk to his players??

This topic deserves a thread? Just what this board needs...more incoherent noise.

Man...time for me to take a break from this place.

I get what the OP is saying minus the anger.
Renny is a coach who would rather show the kids how to respect the refs instead of coaching the way he should. He is quick to scold the kids, or give them death stares when they screw up, but doesn't have any of the players backs when it comes to something like this.
I am way over this clown - get us a coach who has played the game and understands how to read and react accordingly during the span of a hockey game.

Yeah, we don't really need two PGTs.

Merging them is going to make a mess, so just continue in the other PGT.
