I would love to see a Timonen-Grossmann pairing. I think that could be pretty damn good come playoff time. I like Coburn, but Grossmann, I think, would be better suited with Timonen. I honestly see Meszaros-Grossmann as a waste. Grossmann should be with either Carle or Timonen. Timonen-Coburn has been horrendous lately.

I agree.

Not yeTT. Let's see how he plays. If he plays poor, we don't sign him. If he plays well, he goes to free agency because we can't pay him enough anyway.

The above logic is flawed, sign him now!

3) IMHO he shouldn't come close to what Jan Hedja signed with Colorado.

I think a deal around 2.75 for three years or around there should be fair.
Hejda is a good comparison, second pairing, twenty minutes a night, penalty-killer, only that Hejda is six years older, Grossmann just enters his prime.

With the current cap I would offer a similar contract, $3.25MM, with a $69MM upper limit he gets around $3.5MM.

Love what Grossmannnnnnnn brings. Definitely need to resign him. Aside from Kimmo (assuming Pronger is done) I think he's the best d-man we've got.

Simply not going to happen. Can't see either of them getting below 3 million per year. If you can get them both signed for a combined 6.5 or lower, you do it and let Carle and his 5-5.5M leave.

Guy has been a beast...even resembles the late Beast McCrimmon somewhat....he has been impressive and is really standing out tonight in the Toronto game. Second round pick well worth it....better than JVR for Schenn any day!

Yep. The guy continues to impress. 24+ solid minutes tonight.
Teams don't seem to be able to set up shop in front of Bryz or linger in close with Grossman patroling...he makes solid plays out of the zone and can step up and join the play when needed.

Now, I know he and Carle are very different players, but I don't see Carle being able to do that much more offensively than Grossman (they both have the same amt of points since Grossman joined the team and that's with Grossman getting no pp time) and Grossman's defensive game is far better. I guess I'm thinking that if it comes down to a choice, all things considered, I'd probably be looking to sign Grossman for around 3-3.5 mil/yr versus Carle at 5+

I love grossman, and honestly, i can't imagine them NOT signing Grossmann. He may be responsible for turning this team around defensively.

Honestly? He's probably our best "defensive" player right now. Like in ot and end of 3rd he blocked like 4 shots and stole the puck 5 times. Lays out good hits that are the right play. Not to hit just to hit like some do

This guy is an absolute rock. This is definitely looking like one of those situations where a change of scenery was just what the doctor ordered. Grossmann has a very specific role on this team and he's fulfilled it exactly as advertised. Lock him up, Homer.

Grossmann seems to be exactly what this team needed. Definitely seems like a guy we should keep around next year.

I don't think it's just a coincidence that the PK started getting good again around the time GrossmanN arrived.

If he can play on this lvl the next 4 or 5 Seasons he will be rewarded with a lot of attention by the flyers media and also the nhl community.

In his short stint as a flyer he played better defensive as every player ive seen for a long stint.

Sure he isnīt a weapon offensively. But we donīt need him to be it. He has a solid outled pass and can control the puck if needed.

I would wait not to long before i give him a contract, because if he plays at that lvl we donīt get him under 4!!

For me itīs ok to sign him for 3,5 for 5 years

maybe that would be a steal!

He is literally just what the doctor ordered for this team.

Never going to set the world alight with offensive output, but very solid in his own end.

With our offense, our D does not all need to be able to contribute 20+ points a year.

Please resign him, and hopefully nab Suter (feasible!):

Timonen-Grossmann
Suter-Mez
Coburn-Bourdon/Manning/Gus
Lilja

That D would be great.
(Trade Carle before he goes UFA for whatever draft pick we can get, 2nd, 3rd probably.)

They have a potential problem with tagging room, and a declining cap. That will throw a wrench into things
