Robert Reichel is my choise.... Been the best backchecker for the leafs the past 2 seasons IMO.

Fitzgerald, Stajan, Reichel, Nieuwendyk and Tucker stand out for me.

However, Antropov and Nolan are right up there too. They are both very underrated defensively in my opinion.

The Leafs forwards corpse isn't exactly strong defensively, either or Reichel, Fitzgerald would take the crown IMHO though.

Tucker is following them in third.

I'd agree that it's partially due to Quinn's free wheeling offensive style, but even setting that aside few Leafs fowards make much effort defensively which only serves to exacerbate a the problem of below average defensive skills.
