You missed the point. Gus really picked it up in January. He plays much better if he plays a lot.
If Wilson didn't replace him with his boy Reimer for no reason,Gus would just keep rolling.
In the end, that maroon just ruined the confidence in both our goalies. Props to Carlyle for doing the right thing now and just running with Gus.
Reimer got 2 straight shutouts to start February, the first one coming off a back to back, before he really started to stink it up. Can't really blame Wilson for starting Reimer to start the month. You aren't gonna sit a goalie shortly after he just got 2 straight shutouts.
I will agree with you and say that Wilson did make an error by sticking by Reimer for too long. By that time, Gus was cold and back to his terrible play.
Part of this is on Wilson as he should of platooned both goaltenders more effectively to keep them both sharp. But, part of this is on Gus as a good goaltender should be able to stay sharp without playing. It's what makes a good goaltender.
Kovi's a little old - and his contract sucks ... But I think he's a more talanted offenive player ... they are probably equally bad defensively ... Kovi has more grit/jam - he's harder to knock off the puck - and he's a gamer - has been his entire career. On pace for 35 goals in Jersey - 75points - so similar numbers to phil.
when in Feb did you feel was the turning point or the game in which you thought the Leafs' post season chances were sunk?
Sundin Night In Canada?
I missed that game, but it's fitting that it would sink us. I mean, we only celebrate every OTHER Saturday night here right? We celebrate something someone did when we were good, or at least not ******.
It would be nice if we could start celebrating the team doing well. What's so interesting to me is there isn't a single player I'd put as a lock as far as putting their number on the back of my jersey right now.

The Philly game before. After losing a game to the Jets they should have won they came out with a total lack of effort in the first period against the Flyers. I can remember everybody saying that no way this team was going to be going far in the playoffs with that lack of guts. Sadly it was just a taste of what we were going to see the rest of Wilson's tenure.
I'll definitely keep an eye on him wherever he goes. And then when he's succeeding, whether here or elsewhere,I'll make sure to rub it in your face.
Gustavsson has too much talent to be bad on a good team. If this was Detroit,he would be better than Howard.
And I've said the same thing. Better hope Toronto keeps this guy...Patience and a time for adjustment is what we've seen thus far and he's shown stretches of very good goaltending.
I'm a Howard fan and dont' know if Gus would be better, but he's got the talent to make an impact. We've seen it here, but somehow we ignore all the elements of development that good teams don't.
if he were on Buffalo he would be better than Miller.
if he were on NYR he would be the new King
if he were on Montreal he would be better than Price.
can't wait for next year
Here's some food for thought old guy. Considering the fact that Carlyle keeps playing Gus,that would mean that the management still has hope in this guy and want to see what he's got in him.
I'm inclined to think that these guys know more about the game and Gus himself than you.
You can stop answering. I'll put you on my ignore list to not bother anymore.
also, i'd like to point out that cole mistook kessel for grabovski or vice versa at least twice tonight, and it was great when HNiC cut to commercial right as a fight was about to happen (the most exciting thing in the game up to that point).

kessel has to go. calyle's system is no good for him, next year he will lost out there, lucky if he scores 20 goals. srry kessel, back to the USA.
Seriously, you gotta stop this nonsensical Kessel bashing. I was at the game and Kessel was the most dangerous player on the ice and didn't cost us any goals.
