Yes, but in three extra games played. One point from tying Stone for the overall points lead (in one extra game played). It doesn't matter too much, what matters is he fought through a bit of a slump in January and has picked up the pace again with a vengeance.

That Portland team is a juggernaut. They're winning every game right now. If they finish this one off it's nine in a row. Hopefully he gets to go deep in the Memorial Cup. Established a bit of a reputation for Game 7 heroics last year. Edmunsen is apparently coming around after a poor start to his year but Moose Jaw is pretty good too, they could potentially meet in the WHL finals.

I'm just very impressed. I remember around draft time that Etem had really strong reviews on his shot and scoring ability. So Rattie being up there is quite a pleasant surprise.

I don't follow juniors, what happened in Game 7 last year?

Sorry not last year, the year before. Game 7 OT winner against Spokane in round 1. But last year he had 9G, 13A in 21 playoff games so he's not shy in the big moments.

Big game tonight for Rattie's team. Tri-City and Portland have the two best records in the WHL but they're in the same division so one is going to get the 1-seed and home ice throughout and the other's getting a 3-seed. Tri-City has a 1-point lead on the strength of seven straight wins and Portland has gone 10-0-1.

Edit – though he was held scoreless, Portland won at Tri-City to take over first place in the WHL. Be nice to see them get best possible path to Memorial Cup. Shawnigan (with Villieux) is host and Tesink (and MacAulay) with Saint John might be in it too.

with 6 games to go Rattie needs 7 goals and 3 assists to record 60 - 60 = 120 point season. It could happen. What a season that would be.

I've never been able to watch one of his games, who does he remind you of? How good can he be?

Wow, that's great.

Yeah, who does he remind you of? I haven't seen him play and I think your Ryan comparison of Tarasenko is really good.

I first heard that comparison from IA a ways back and it clicked for me because it's just right. Ryan's a little taller and he skates with his legs a little wider and more powerfully but they have all sorts of tools in the toolbox. That awesome little nifty move Ryan made on the rush that almost resulted in a goal the other night? That's kind of how Tarasenko thinks when he's driving the net.

As for Rattie, I don't get the streaming package of Canadian juniors. I wish I did. (I don't have the sweet connections IA has!!) So it's tougher for me to give a good description. He has a wicked, lightning fast release. It's really top-end shooting skill. Still small though, but he's a really good athlete. Was best at the Wingate test (anaerobic power) of all draftees at the combine.

Gotcha. Didn't know if you had connections or not, figure it was worth asking. Should be interesting seeing how Rattie fits into our team.

Actually you can pay for a package to watch juniors but it's fairly expensive.

Rattie with 4 assists last night all in the first period as Portland explded for 8 goals in the first period. Rattie moves to second in the WHL in scoring. Looks like no 60 goals but 120+ points very possible. The scoring leader is a 21 year old overage player.

It is interesting to note that Ratties 117 points is more than the scoring leader of the WHL had in any of the previous ten seasons.

Rattie's had an excellent season. Hopefully he can help the Winterhawks go far in the WHL playoffs (they'll enter as the 3rd seed). If Calgary sends Bartschi down, that would make Portland even better.

It's unfortunate the kid won't be able to play in the AHL next season. He's very unlikely to make the Blues next season (mostly due to him likely going to need to develop his body and other aspects of his game but also because of a sheer numbers game due to the Blues being likely to be very deep at offense next season) so he'll have to go back to Portland for a finals Jr season. He'll likely dominate but he'll need to just focus on what he needs to to adapt to the pro game. He'll also very make Canada's WJC team so that'll be very good experience for him too.

What prevents Rattie from playing in Peoria next season? Does he not meet and age requirement?
