Well you're right on that, i think he might very well end up being a great player, but i just feel it's a bit of a risk compared to a guy like Forsberg.

I still think a team drafts him no 1.

Maybe 2nd pick is the place to be.
Does that again mean it s not his first one ? (If it is a concussion)

Or is that guy just saying it s just another head injury to another player ?

I'd prefer a center but I understand the idea.

I always said I'd be happy with one of the top 4 forwards. But please, no defenseman!

Anyone who has seen the play would guarantee that's a bad concussion.

I wouldn't do it either...

Eller has quality top-6 written all over him, and perhaps even an outside chance at being a 70+pt player once he fully matures.

add in a pick that could very well turn out as good, or better, than Yakupov (Grigorenko, Galeynychuk, Dumba, Murray), & a 2nd...

Yakupov (tonights injury aside) doesn't strike me as being so dominant or such a "sure thing" that we are talking about a Crosby/Ovechkin/Malkin type "sure thing".

think about it from last year's perspective... I'd say Yakupov is not unlike RNH was last year in the sense that he was pretty much the consensus #1, but not the "generational talent" type prospect...

would you trade Eller, Landeskog/Larsson/Huberdeau & Musil/Rattie/Jurco for RNH? As good as RNH is, I'd say no.

Pacioretty had a bad concussion and came back. He has done more than enough to have locked down #1 overall.

Lindros had a bad concussion and was never the same. It's not something to take lightly.

WADR, any player, regardless of size or style, is vulnerable to a dirty elbow.

It's one game. Even Columbus had a little streak.

It better be. If they start winning and end up with 10th overall, I'll blow a ****ing gasket.

Hardly a "dirty elbow" - Yakupov was practically bent over when he was cutting across the ice. No surprise his face was at Halmo's elbow.

The criticism of Ovechkin in his draft year was that his reckless play would eventually lead to injury...but unlike Yakupov, Ovechkin at least has the frame to absorb that kind of punishment.

Either way, I wouldn't let it turn me off from picking him 1st overall (unless it comes out that his brain is scrambled for life or something, god forbid).

We should end up with the 6th overall pick even if we continue winning. Islanders and Leafs are going to start sinking, most likely. Either way:

1. Yakupov?
2. Grigorenko
3. Murray
4. Dumba
5. Forsberg
6. Galchenyuk
7. Trouba
8. Faksa?

I would be happy with any of Trouba, Dumba, Forsberg or Galchenyuk.

What, you think the players are trying to lose intentionnaly to draft higher ? It doesn't happen.

The fact is that they've been playing a lot worst than they should have (thanks a lot to RC)... I still hope they'll continue sucking, but why should we be surprise that they play better.

Let's just hope the other teams will be playing better also.

I would have to disagree with you. Sure looked to me like that elbow was aimed at the head, regardless of degree of elevation. I think it was predatory.

Yea he was in a tough position and he lowered his head. I don't know if Halmo was running around like that all game, but from this angle it looks incidental. Sucks though because the impact looks devastating.

So, Forsberg or Murray will be going No.1? Yakupov will still go #1.
