Casual fan?

The article isn't newsworthy at all, there's a lot of amateurs on HF who run their own site but don't get paid who write more interesting articles. What's there to debate exactly, maybe we shouldn't sign Pacioretty long term? Heh.

Granted, I would take Marinara's stuff over Jack Todd or Red Fisher..

They should all be put in a rowboat and be sent over Niagara Falls.

I'm not sure if this applies to Patches contract, but they may have to wait until next year

RENEGOTIATION OF CONTRACTS
Will Clubs be able to renegotiate contracts with players?
No. Player contracts will not be renegotiated (upward or downward) during their term. Extensions may be negotiated but only in the final year of the contract and only if such extension is for an amount that can be accommodated in a Club's upper limit for the current year or as computed for future years.

The only way he becomes a UFA through arbitration is if the Habs walk away from the award, and there is no way that is going to happen. The arbitration application is for administrative purposes only. No team really wants to go to arbitration with a player, but filing for it prevents other teams from giving an offer sheet.

Patches should sign an extension sometime next season, as Gorges did. Probably around Jan 1, or the All-Star break. There's really no rush to do it. If he has another season like this one then he's going to get Cory Perry/James Neal type money, and frankly, he would deserve it.

It's not really something that the Habs should worry about this summer. Price, Subban & Emelin are priority signings since like Pacioretty they are core members of the club going forward.

I wonder how Tony came up with with this controversial idea.
