I would imagine it will be down quite a bit. TBH I haven't been too up to date on the Union as I would like to be (my new year's resolution is to do a better job following them this season). I assume Mwanga, Torres, and Adu will be leaned on more this season to generate chances.
Le Toux scored Vancouver's first goal of the season, 4 minutes into the game on Saturday.
I forgot to peruse the Union thread around the time of the trade... how does the fan base feel about his move to Vancouver?
Not sure what the overall fan base's thoughts are on this, but I just thought it was weird. I think they have a solid roster without him, but it just seems odd to give away your best offensive player for essentially nothing. I'm not as well informed about soccer so I don't know if this is a normal occurrence, but as a fan of baseball, hockey, etc it just seemed like a weird move. If the money was better spent elsewhere, we'll find out in the coming weeks. I would guess most of the fan base feels that way but I'm not sure.
It's tough for causal fans like myself when you can hardly recognize anyone on your own team. I want the face of the franchise back.
He was gone after this season anyway, because a lot of the Union's Generation Adidas players will be graduating and they'll count against the cap. I have no issue with the Union moving him now to get something.
Don't let anyone fool you. The ownership group doesn't really care about winning, as long as theyre getting their money. Don't be surprised if this team is back at square 1 this year.
The idea that the ownership are sitting back counting their money after two years is ridiculous. As is the "threat" that a third-year franchise might go allllll the way back to square one.
The Union played seven players last night who were 23 or younger. That didn't include four other U23 players who are on the roster that saw the field for them last year. These kids aren't here because the Union are cheap and don't care. It's because they're building something. No team has more players on the USA U23 team than the Union.
