Seriously, what's the point of benching a player at this point of the season.
Benching a player for a bad bounce... That's ****ing stupid.
Benching a player for a bad bounce at any time during the year is plain stupid.
Benching a youngster for a bad bounce at any time during the year is even dumber.
Benching a youngster for a bad bounce with 12 games left and with no chance of making the POs is again, even dumber.
Benching a youngster for a bad bounce with 12 games left and with no chance of making the POs when his partner is a player that has not played in almost 2years and is clearly off, is even more dumb.
Benching a youngster for a bad bounce with 12 games left and with no chance of making the POs when his partner is a player that has not played in almost 2 years and is clearly off to the point where he made a bad pinch which created an odd man rush against us, is damn more freaking never ending dumb again.
I've never been a fan of Bourque, and I'd take AK over him without thinking twice. Not only that, but I'd rather have kept Cammy had I known management were also going to move AK. I mean, we went from Cammy+AK to Bourque. It's retarded, absolutely imbecile. There is no logic behind it, even if creates room (just a little over 2M), it's senseless.
Despite all of this, Bourque has been misused from his first game here.
Make that 6+ million, assuming AK gets 4. So Bourque and a $6 million player (and 2 2nd round picks) vs AK and Cammy. If Bourque can score 20-25 next year, that's not bad at all.

Yes. A player of 6M on the open market. I wonder how the last guy we signed for that much on the open market turned out...
Aren't we supposed to learn from our mistakes?

If his name wasn't Tyler Myers, and he only played 15 minutes a game he would've been thrown out for that hit. Typical guy looking to hurt someone because he's mad kind of hit.
I love seeing Markov back playing, but sometimes I wish he would have waited until next season, the team plays much better with him in the lineup. The last thing I want to see is a run to 10th place or something now.
Andrei Kostitsyn scored the GWG...................
Oh and .. Meanwhile in Montreal.. We have 2 top 6 wingers....

We should be able to pick up two top-six wingers for a single late 2nd round pick. Nashville did!
I want to barf when I think of how ****ing stupidly our organization has behaved with regard to asset management. And we keep doing it again and again and again.

I'm of two minds on this. Minny may leave M. Koivu out of the lineup if they are giving up on the playoffs, so as not to exacerbate his injury. But with Markov I think we need to see if he can shake off the rust and play at a high level. Of course if he can, we inch up in the standings and get a lower pick. This is the season from hell.

And as long as Bob Gainey and Pierre Gauthier are part of the Habs management team they will keep doing it again and again and again..
I missed the game. Can someone please describe Markov performance. Based on the highlights, it seems that he was quite bad, right ?
How about Bourque ? Ron Fournier kept mocking him yesterday night in his show.
Honestly, I'm very disappointed in Bourque. He's worse than AK.
Tyler Ennis made Markov look like a fool on one play, but for the rest, he was meh defensively which is normal at this point, and he made some great offensive plays. His best highlight was at the end of the game, when the Habs' net was empty. The Sabres were breaking out of their zone and were looking about to score an empty netter.
Markov came in and disrupted the play. I can't remember who it was that he countered, but there was a total of (I think) 3 opponents in the area, so that was a tough play to make. That play allowed the Habs to go back on the offense and soon thereafter, score the tying goal.
Offensively, he also had a few of his typical sneak-up plays on the PP, and a few good shots on net.
There are actually several big, like to hit , defensively alright stay at home type D-men going UFA at seasons end, like Grossman and Stuart. Obviuosly some of them will likely be signed by their current teams so who knows how many hit the market. Still, there should be 2 tor 4 guys that might/ should interest us. The guys Im thinking of could probably play top 4 for us, but if Emelin keeps developing he could be top 4 at some point next year and any D-man we get could be playing in the bottom pairing. Anyway, top 4 or top 6. we need another big, physical D-man on the blueline besides Emelin who is solid defensively.
Yes those fans that want the Habs to be a better hockey team in the future, how dare we want them to lose when the season and our playoffs are over
Drafting 3rd instead of 5th or 6th won't make a world of a difference this year. And look at the other teams that have tanked, some aren't doing too well right?
So, sure, getting the higher pick is good, but it won't mean jack at the end of the day unless we fix our managerial problems.

Well we traded our other two wingers, and a third one is injured for the year.

I agree Kriss, but for example the Oilers, Islanders and Jackets for example don't have a foundation like we have right now, they didn't have great young players like Price, Pacioretty, Subban to build with. Those teams started from scratch, we already have something in place, and I want to add a great player to that, not a mediocre one. That's all, it's my opinion you or others don't have to agree with it but IMO we won't be fighting for a lottery spot every year, this is our chance and the closest we have been in so long so let's take advantage, that's all
And yes management needs to be fired April 8th, I don't care if it's Easter
