Where does it show in the CBA that the SPC's must count immediately?

this signing has all the makings of amounting to nothing. slow, not much offense, and the only positive so far is his face-off abilities. welcome to the sharks hobo handzus.

There's also nothing there that states that teams can't sign free agents to SPC's that are to begin the next season.

Actually, 50.8(d) allows this.

Quote:
No Club or Player may enter into an SPC that does not cover at least the
then-current League Year. The foregoing does not apply to an SPC entered into pursuant
to Section 50.5(f) above, or to Unsigned Draft Choices or Draft Related Unrestricted Free
Agents, who shall be permitted to sign an SPC during the period fromMarch 1 through
June 1 immediately preceding the League Year in which such SPC is to take effect.

Oh, they can (and there is a section that says that can, although I don't know what it is off the top of my head). But there's nothing I'm aware of that says the contract they sign is exempt from that 50 contract limit.

Sebastian is a smart two-way centre, good playmaker, really versatile and with good leadership abilities. Haven't seen him since he left Frölunda for the NCAA, but back then I thought a good comparison for him was Frans Nielsen.

A friend of mine is coaching the Indian National Hockey team at the moment. I'm sure the Sharks could find some awesome prospects there. From what he's told me, they've scored one goal in their history. Any of their studs would be perfect on the Sharks right now.

Yeah, with the Sharks draft picks, they may as well start looking into field hockey.

I'd like to meet this person. I'm Indian and play hockey too, haven't met anyone else. I think I'd make a good coach. Are they looking for a GM? Of course I'd have to perform an autopsy over the summer...

edit
O lol field hockey... used to play back in the day haha

It's not field hockey it's ice. He's from Long Island and is not of Indian descent, but he's been to India several times doing hockey related stuff.

I remember reading about India having an Ice Hockey team a while back, sadly the ice hockey market over there will never catch on. Only Jammu & Kashmir and Himachal Pradesh have the weather to help support something like this. And, one of those states is a bit busy imploding at the moment.

According to the Wiki page, the coach is Adam Sherlip, is that same guy you're referring to?

(worst defeat, 39-2 against Kuwait...ouch!)

If the contract made it 51, the league would de-register it fairly quickly or take away draft picks as a punishment. Considering that the contract doesn't start until next season, it doesn't count as a contract this season. Don't see what's so difficult to understand about that.
