Wow, I don't know what snapped in Bryz's brain before that Calgary game, but ever since he's been an entirely different goalie. It looks like this good play is here to stay, too. All is well.

I would venture a guess that when the "leadership group" talked to him, he voiced his frustrations as well (i.e. being an outcast, being singled out etc.). Not only did Bryz changed at Calgary game, but the team in front of him did. every comment about him by the team mates is serious without any undetones or sarcasm.

It truly "took a village".

It's always been a two way street. Bryzgalov's play of late has also seen a big uptick in the defensive coverage and back checking by the forwards.

Bryz wouldn't be having the success he's had without the team stepping up. But he's also played well enough to give them confidence.

Several posters have said all along that Bryzgalov was too good to not turn it around. It's great to see, and I'm happy to see the end of the most vicious bashing of the guy.

In the last 20 games he has been a top 3 NHL keeper:

If the Vezina had started at new year he could have well been in the race!

Last 24 games (since new year)

14-5-3

47 GA in 1410 mins played = 2.00 GAA

653 SA for 0.928 SV%

If you cancel the first four games after new year... the figures are crazy.

From Jan 17. Last 20 games:

12-3-3

33 GA in 1167 mins played = 1.70 GAA

521 SA for 0.937 SV%

I just don't know why the Flyers are comfortable letting him walk in 2021.

One cup is all I ask for.....

Flyers should sell copies of his contract like those faux copies of the Declaration of Independence and Constitution....I would frame it next to all the Stanley Cup paraphernalia...

I told you guys. Bryz is awesome. With the Sharks not making the playoffs, I'll be enjoying watching my #1 team, the Flyers, make some damage in the playoffs.

taken from the main board

Let's see if it comes crashing down. He's playing great, but still a lot of time left.

I'm surprised he's not getting any media attention on nhl network for turning his game around.

Bryz played at a league average level in January and February, which was a big improvement over his 1st half.

If it hasn't been mentioned already (in a rush to depart for work...), the first couple lines in ESPN's recap of last night's game are awesome:

Quote:
Ilya Bryzgalov can stop worrying about fans counting the zeros in his contract.

They are busy adding up the zeros in his shutout streak.

Stats update:
For the year: 28-13-6, 2.53 GAA, .908 SP

Those numbers are decent.

Post all star:
10-3-2, 1.65 GAA, .937 SP, 5 shutouts.

Sick.
