if nobody has listened to the richard patrick(filter) and deleo brothers(stone temple pilots) one and only callaboration album entitled "army of anyone", its excellent, and i think better than stp's new album. also in excellent is filter's latest "the trouble with angels" i am guilty of being a big filter fan but as biased as i am i do think that "the trouble with angel's" is good enough to appeal to anyone and thier best album since 1998's "welcom to the fold".

Here's two Seattle hip hop artists who are huge in the Northwest US music scene right now. I think it's only a matter of time before Sol blows up nationally, but I also really like Macklemore. I know about Sol because one of my best friends from childhood is a producer who has worked with him before and made some of his beats ("Millions" is one of them), while one of my close girl friends from college grew up with Macklemore's producer and they went to high school together (James A. Garfield in Seattle). Pretty cool stuff.

Edit 2: Actually..."Mr. Bad Example" might have been a 90s album. Oh well, it still sounds like the 80s.

Seems like you already know about New Order. So I will submit Echo and the Bunnymen, which is a different genre, but is also a forgotten band.

The original Blue Monday was a technological marvel, it's production was enormously expensive if I'm not mistaken.

Oh I'm sure. Just the Orgy one is what I grew up hearing. Also don't forget Journey. They started in the 70s, but went well into the 80s.

Surprisingly late 80s. Red Hot Chili Peppers formed in 83. Kreator.
