the only night I'll say this ... Lets Go Wings ... I abhor the Ducks ... ABD
meh... no matter the hate, it serves our interest for the Ducks to win in regulation.
just as in years past when we were no where near the Wings but were battling teams like the Avs and Stars for 8th, I would root for Detroit against them....
I think the difference in the Wings/Preds series (assuming it happens) is going to be home ice... if we have home ice, I think we are a slight favorite... if detroit has it, then they are a significant favorite..
I don't think home ice advantage really matters to be honest. Only becomes useful in a game 7 situation.
But it's still something to work for, and this team needs something worth fighting for.
as well as detroit has played at home and with us needing to protect some of our weaker defensemen, I think home ice would be huge in a series vs the Wings.
if we could start off 2-0 and then head into the joe with a full head of steam and all the pressure on them, that would be a whole lot better than possibly starting out in a 2-0 hole

someone pointed out Detroit - and StL is the same - they have been monsters at home but mediocre on the road. while we can't get advantage of StL we can on Det, and it would seem to be beneficial at least in a series with either.
also, in the west, I think the travel comes into play. while I might not care about home ice travel against Chic, I sure do against the CAN or West Coast teams.
No posts tonight about the huge Detroit @ Anaheim game? Anaheim currently leads 1-0 halfway through the game. If Anaheim can win in regulation the Preds will be two points behind the Wings with two games in hand.
