i don't think schenn will be a Leaf for much longer. i think by the summer Brian Burke will try to move him.
basically saying that that the change could be the best thing for him.

also Kyper refers to Nazem Kadri as "Kazem Nadri". hahaha. maybe he secretly posts on hfboards.

very interesting observations/points on the leafs. a comparison to the Ballard era Leafs, Kadri, Schenn, and Burke.

did anyone listen to this today?

do you agree? is burke even allowed to make that move (trade schenn)? who would we get for him? could we move up in the draft in a schenn swap?

check it out.

top 10 pick in the draft and he's gone imo

maybe Schultz + Anaheim's top 10ish pick for Schenn + 2nd

Wouldn't want to move him for junk, but something like Schenn for Schneider would be sweet.

If Burke truly does feel that Carlyle can turn his game around than I highly doubt such a move occurs.

I doubt Burke will "try" to move but if there is a #1 center or #1 goaltender to be had, Schenn is there to be had.

I still think we should hold onto him, he is still very young and quite raw as he is rounding out his defensive game properly, but with the right price such as a top 10 pick in this years draft, he is more than movable.

For a good young goaltender, or in part of a package for a top 3 forward, and I would be pleased.

Luke Schenn is only 22, too early to trade him.

This.

His offensive game has come leaps and bounds, and there are definitely moments when Schenn makes a quick move with the puck and your like: "Wait, thats Schenn??"

Defensively, he hits a lot, blocks shots, but his skating is the one area he has been up and down in his NHL career. If he can start moving his feet more (power skating please) he could become scary good.

Also, Schenn is worth more to us right now. Last year he was our 2nd best defender, and expect him to be in a situation this fall similar to last season, or his rookie season: little expectations. As a rookie, he wasnt expected to make the roster, and earned a spot alongside Kaberle. Last year he was expected to be a 3rd pairing guy with Gunnarsson, but ended up stealing Komisarek's role in the top 4, and stuck as the 2nd pairing anchor all season long

hes going in a package for Nash when we draft Galchenyuk (please)

Nash - Galchenyuk (future, Bozak for now.) - Kessel
Kulimen - Grabs - Lupul

Now what it would take to get Nash is a different story but if we do draft Gal id part with Colborne pretty easily and makes sense if the Jackets draft Nail to have him and Joe with Schenn & JJ.

Well, look at Alexander Steen for example, he wasn't playing as expected off him during the time and prior to it when we dealt him but with bit more patience, opportunity, consistency, and experience, he is turned into one of the best 2nd line two-way winger in the league. Not to mention, Schenn is a big body d-man and they require sufficient amount of time in the NHl before they can actually get their game going on the right track. Similar things have happened to defensemens like Bogosian, EJ, Vlasic, Beiksa etc who has had some good ups and down year like Schenn has had in his 4 year tenure here, but have come out on top with team showing right commitment, timing, and opportunity to let them turn their game around.

problem is we drafted him to be a shut down defencemen capable of boxing guys out of the crease, tying up sticks, you know play defence and be sound in his zone but that's farther than what he is. I think in an unrelated situation Murray and Gudbrason will follow the same path.

I'd hate to see him go. But we have a lot of needs on this team and he's probably one of our most tradeable assets that wouldn't see us hurt too much by moving him. I wouldn't trade him for a 1st unless it was top 10. Trading him+ for Nash would make sense, a good young goalie, drafting up would make sense also. Could see Edmonton interested in trading down.

I just hope people don't start kicking and raging onto every high 1st round talent that we draft going forward cuz this is been our trend ever since we have drafted Schenn. Same goes for Kadri who IMHO totally deserved a place on our roster this year over the likes off many. I guess next in the line-up to get more **** thrown at him will be one of Galchenyuk/Forsberg/Dumba/Reinhart/Faksa, right?

I'd be surprised to see Schenn go, but you never know. It would have to be for a good return though considering how much Burke has wanted to keep Schenn in the past.

I'm not even sure of his trade value....

We've seen him as a center piece in a deal for Nash but also in deals for a 17 and lower first round pick.

If we get Schultz we will have more room to try and trade him for help elsewhere or improve our draft situation.

Unless Kyper says he heard it from someone else, it's best not to listen to his speculations.

People said the same thing about so many players.

Henrik Sedin
Daniel Sedin
Phil Kessel
Ryan Kesler
Marian Gaborik
Jarome Iginla
Marian Hossa
Joffrey Lupul
Joe Thornton
Daniel Briere

They all improved vastly after 4 years of professional hockey (NHL level).
Should I continue?

Don't really wanna give up on Schenn so early..but for the right offer i don't think you can stop yourself from trading him. Top 10 pick in upcoming draft + bottom 4 d man OR 4-7 pick...just my opinion.
