My draft is in ten days and the amount of prep work I have done is sickening. Prepared predictions and priced almost every MLB player worthy of being drafted and a large swath of potential prospects. I'm extremely excited.

Baseball has to be THE best fantasy sport hands down.
Already done my draft, and made some trades already. Here is how my team shaped up (12 teams: R, HR, RBI, SB, OBP + W, K, SV, ERA, WHIP)
C - Alex Avila 1B - Joey Votto 2B - Ian Kinsler SS - Hanley Ramirez 3B - Mike Moustakas OF - Justin Upton OF - BJ Upton OF - Drew Stubbs Util - Eric Hosmer Util - Austin Jackson
BN - Peter Bourjos BN - Chris Iannetta BN - Dustin Ackley BN - Zack Cozart
P - CJ Wilson P - Yovani Gallardo RP - Alfredo Aceves RP - Alexi Ogando P - Michael Pineda P - Brandon Beachy P - Anibal Sanchez P - Clay Buccholz
BN - Erik Bedard
I feel like my team is pretty stacked. I like my chances of winning the league and taking in the dough money.
I punt saves to get better pitchers and batters. There are always a lot of good SPs available and it allows me to go pure hitting for the first 6 rounds usually. I don't mind punting one category.
Ok. So I need some quick help: here is my team from last year. They pretty much sucked, but I get to keep 4 guys:
A Avila
M Cabrera
B Zobrist
I Kinsler (R)
D Murphy
I Desmond
C Crawford
M Ordonez
J Reddick
J Werth
C Rasmus (R)
D Ortiz
J Lackey
G Floyd
R Oswalt
H Kuroda
C Morton
M Pineda (R)
C Carrasco (R)
A Ogando (R)
J Johnson (I)
C Villanueva (I)
I have also been offered 2 trades
I would get
·Cain, Matt SP SF
·Granderson, Curtis CF NYY
·Halladay, Roy SP PHI
I would give up
·Cabrera, Miguel 1B DET
· Draft Pick Rd:7, Overall Pick:75
Trade option #2
Get:
·Victorino, Shane CF PHI
·Haren, Dan SP LAA
·Santana, Carlos C CLE
·Gallardo, Yovani SP MIL
Give up:
·Cabrera, Miguel 1B DET
·Johnson, Josh SP MIA

Would take the bolded trade in half a heartbeat. Cabrera is great but you are getting insane return for him.
Also Cabrera, Johnson, Ortiz and Kinsler are the easy 4 keepers for me.
EDIT: Unless the trade is pre-locking in keepers. Then it's tougher because you already have a good group of keepers without getting Granderson and Halladay. I would sit tight on what you already have if that's the case. Cabrera + Johnson + Ortis + Kinsler is a great group of keepers.

Yea, that trade would be pre-keepers. Keepers are due Friday, so I really need to pull the trigger here on something
Accepted the first trade, and will probably keep Johnson along with the three I got from the trade.

That's a really bad trade IMO.
Cabrera, Kinsler, Ortiz and Johnson is way, way, better than Granderson, Cain, Halladay and Johnson. Great hitters are way more valuable than great pitchers. At least keep Kinsler ffs
I'd keep Avila over Ortiz. It's easier to find production at the DH (any player) than at the catching position.
There are better catchers to draft, and Avila won't be able to sustain the production he had last year. On top of which Ortiz is an elite hitter and when you take keepers you want to have top end talent not go for positional scarcity.

Ortiz is also 36, which isn't as bad because of his position, but still. Why can't Avila continue his production?
10th pick. Hate my team. Everytime I was ready to pick someone he went 1 or 2 picks before me. In hindsight I probably shoulda took Fielder instead of Hanley and picked up a SS like Castro or Andrus later.
I also feel like the talent pool aint as deep as it used to be.
10 Hanley Ramirez, Mia SS
11 Curtis Granderson, NYY OF
30 Ryan Zimmerman, Wsh 3B
31 David Price, TB SP
50 Carlos Santana, Cle C
51 Matt Cain, SF SP
70 James Shields, TB SP
71 Carl Crawford, Bos OF
90 Ricky Romero, Tor SP
91 Desmond Jennings, TB OF
110 Jordan Zimmermann, Wsh SP
111 Drew Stubbs, Cin OF
130 Freddie Freeman, Atl 1B
131 Neil Walker, Pit 2B
150 Tim Hudson, Atl SP
151 Stephen Drew, Ari SS
170 Yadier Molina, StL C
171 Brandon Morrow, Tor SP
190 Mike Minor, Atl SP
191 Jemile Weeks, Oak 2B
210 Javy Guerra, LAD RP
211 Chris Perez, Cle RP
230 Jacob Turner, Det SP
231 Devin Mesoraco, Cin C
-I know I took 3 catchers but I thought I got value with Yadi at 170, Santana is 1B likely to be my starting 1B and I love Mesoraco's upside.
-I forgot Drew was still hurt I'll just put him on the DL and pick up someone.
The same guy screwed me three times with Matt Moore, Jason Kipnis and Dee Gordon. I really wanted them.
Not trying to be a downer, but for a 10 person league that draft is really underwhelming.
Here is my most recent 10 person draft to compare:
5 Robinson Cano, NYY 2B
16 Prince Fielder, Det 1B
25 Curtis Granderson, NYY OF
36 Jay Bruce, Cin OF
45 Brett Lawrie, Tor 3B
56 Carlos Santana, Cle C
65 Yovani Gallardo, Mil SP
76 Mariano Rivera, NYY RP
85 Jonathan Papelbon, Phi RP
96 Drew Storen, Wsh RP
105 Chris Young, Ari OF
116 Drew Stubbs, Cin OF
125 Ubaldo Jimenez, Cle SP
136 Brandon Beachy, Atl SP
145 Jhonny Peralta, Det SS
156 Ryan Roberts, Ari 2B
165 Johnny Cueto, Cin SP
176 David Freese, StL 3B
185 Ervin Santana, LAA SP
196 Sergio Santos, Tor RP
205 Peter Bourjos, LAA OF
216 Austin Jackson, Det OF
225 Zack Cozart, Cin SS
236 Ryan Vogelsong, SF SP
245 Mark Trumbo, LAA 1B
Like I said in hindsight I probably shoulda went Fielder over Hanley. I forgot that 1B wasn't as deep as usual this year. And its the opposite for SS.
I like my pitching staff but I'm very meh about position players.
I always put off taking RP, BTW. I just take undervalued closers on bad teams. I think I got Storen in like round 23 last year.
Like I said almost every round leading up to my pick I had one or two guys in mind and they would go a pick or two before me leaving me like "oh **** I guess I'll take this guy then" most of the time "this guy" was a Pitcher.
I like my OF if Crawford bounces back.
In the last 2 rounds. I just took a shot with high upside guys rather than the Ricky Nolasco's and Lucas Duda's of the world who you can find comparable players to on the waiver wire.
For reference this was the 1st 9 picks:
Kemp, Pujols, MCab, Tulo, Bautista, Cano, Braun, Votto, Upton.
And these guys went from 12-20 after my HanRam/C.Grand picks:
AGon, Ellsbury, Fielder, CarGo, Longoria, Halladay, McCutchen, JV, Kershaw
Please refrain from listing your favourite players. To make this simple, they must have gone in the last round or two, or have gone completely undrafted all together.
Mike Leake (SP)
Travis Snider (OF)
Rick Porcello (SP)
Denard Span (OF) Due for a bounceback year
Javy Guerra (RP)

Zack Cozart...batting 2nd in a potent Cinci line-up spells runs. He has the ability to go 15 - 15 or better.
Erik Bedard. If he can stay healthy he's a steal of a SP who will generally go undrafted.
Brandon Belt, Chris Ianetta/Wilson Ramos, Nyjer Morgan should also be good value late.

3 closers your first 10 picks? Wow! I never pay for saves. But I love the drafters that do. Ha.
I am in a 16 team keeper league. We get to keep 5, I think I am keeping:
JP Arencibia
Miguel Cabrera( Im going to play him at 3rd)
Ian Kinsler
Mike Napoli( Going to play him mostly at 1st)
Curtis Granderson
We had to drop most of our bench but I still have Adam Jones, Dustin Ackley and Jose Valverde. Am I keeping the right guys?
If I can get a first round pick for Kinsler I would do it and keep Ackley. I am still trying to shop Valverde for a late pick but who wants a closer as a keeper?
