For some reason (Either Q or Sharp) he isn't playing C this year

He does do better at LW but still you would think a team as weak as Hawks at C would use a proven C like Sharp

And if Hawks could get a #2 C like Plekanec via trade it would be huge going forward

Saad-Plekanec-Hossa

Giving up 2nd as well would be too pricey after the overpayment our GM did for Oduya ( )

What about a prospect like Kyle Beach instead?

Two of Jeremy Morin/Brandon Saad/Mark McNeil/Jimmy Hayes, and your 2012 1st would be of interest to me. However, I do not think Montreal management is that high on McNeil, so it might be more like Morin, Saad, and the 2012 1st.

I believe some Hawks fans and I came to an agreement around this deal...sigh...but Gauthier didn't answer my calls...lol.

Humm, let's see Kyle Chipchura 2.0 and a late first for Plekanec... no thanks.

I've changed my mind about dealing Pleky. I think we should get him wingers instead of the garbage that we have.

If we were going to trade Plekanec, I would hold on to him until the summer, or even the start of next season, then trade him for 2013 picks and prospects.

With Markov back we currently have a very strong top 4

Subban, Gorges
Markov, Emelin

The problem going forward is we are stuck with Kaberle for another 2 seasons and both Weber and Diaz are too small/soft to be paired with him.

I suggest that we trade Weber for the best pick that we can get in the offseason and then offer Kaberle to Washington for Hamrlik. Hamrlik and Hunter can't stand each other (no surprise as Hunter is an ***) and the Caps just might bite on this.

Hamrlik only has 1 year left on his contract and he would be a great stop-gap solution while Tinordi and Beaulieu learn in Hamilton. I think that Hamrlik would be fine playing third pairing minutes and would be a fit with a great skater like Diaz.

is a Sharp vs Plekanec (we can add if needed) an option for our team?

then sign Konopka

Pacioretty(20+goal scorer) Desharnais Cole(20+goal scorer)
Sharp(25 goal scorer) Eller Gionta (20+goal scorer)
Leblanc White Moen
Staubitz Konopka Geoffrion

???

PK :
Sharp - Moen
Eller - Gionta
Konopka - Leblanc or Geoffrion

PP
Cole Desharnais Pacioretty
Markov Subban

Eller Sharp Gionta
Kaberle Diaz or Weber

If we wanted one of those d-men, we would have to get rid of some of ours to make room. Ideally, we get Shea Weber...
Subban-S.Weber
Markov-Gorges
Emelin-Y.Weber/Diaz/Kaberle

I like that. Much better than some of the 'let's bring the house down' proposals I'm seeing in this thread.

Anyway if there are going to be any significant moves, I wouldn't want PG as the mastermind.

Let's hope TT does good next June and we'll take it from there.

If Bryzgalov ***** the bed in the playoffs, I wonder what Price would be worth to the Flyers? JVR and Couturier, maybe?

If Philly offered me JVR and Couturier for Price, I would hang up the phone, drive to Philly and laugh at them.

The only way I would trade Price would be for, at least a roster player, 2 top prospects, and a 1st and 2nd round pick.
(for example, JVR, Schenn, Couturier, 1st, 2nd)

And draft McKinnon in 2013.

I would never ever make that deal, who the **** would play in goal ? Please don't talk about Harding or other UFAs... look at where this train of thoughts brought TB.

Sure why not stop there and include Voracek and Jagr as well

Seriously goalies value aren't as high as people think. Flyers will be smarter to go after a Schneider or Bernier, but lately Bryzgalov has found his game, 3 shutouts in his last 4 games

Mathieu Darche (plays hard but he is getting older with limited talent doesn’t really bring much)
David Desharnais having a great year but in the big picture I don t see him being a factor on a winning team. I am looking for a solid two way player that can bang and make plays in the high intensity playoff. I don’t feel he has all the intangibles I am looking for. I am looking for Eric Staal with the habs…maybe one day.

Blake Geoffrion (what does he contribute to the team? nothing)

Louis Leblanc (played too many games with the habs this year not NHL ready) needs to grow a pair and avoid eye contact with opposing players …push and hit back.

Aaron Palushaj (call him up from time to time)

Yannick Weber (He could help another team or be our 7th D man)

Tomas Kaberle (Terrible addition, unable to keep the puck alive at the blue line. His legs are done)

Raphael Diaz (honest player good kid but not on my Team)

Would anybody consider trading Subban at the draft to maybe Edmonton in exchange for their 1st rounder?
With this deal, we have the opportunity to draft Galchenyuk and another franchise winger, and we could have an awesome top line in the future.
Also, with Markov, Gorges, Diaz, Emelin, Weber, Beaulieu, Tinordi, Ellis, Bennett, and Patyrn already in the system, our defense will still be really good.

Keys to Stanley Cup victories:
1. High-scoring offense - check
2. Strong defense - check
3. Really good goalie - check
4. Strong PP/PK - most likely check
5. Lots of character, leadership, and high work ethic - check

Just add a couple of veterans at the deadline, and we will be set.

Thoughts?

No doubt in my mind that Subban's value in this league is considerably more than a first rounder.

In my mind, there is no doubt he has the highest top-end of all our current skaters and prospects.

Marinaro and Flynn: Flynn thinks Montreal should trade for Jordan Staal this summer

Normand Flynn is saying on TSN 990 right now that Montreal should trade Tomas Plekanec + 1st round draft pick in 2012 to Pittsburgh for Jordan Staal, he say's Jordan Staal would make this team better overnight and can be a very good 1st or second line centre.

So...

Pacioretty - Desharnais - Cole
Bourque - Staal - Gionta
Moen - Eller - Leblanc
Geoffrion - White - Staubitz

Markov - Emelin
Gorges - Subban
Kaberle - Weber

Price
Budaj

Personally, I would not DO IT because I want the top 3 to 5 pick this year and Plekanec is better than this season.

DISCUSS!!!

If this were to happen, no way he's not paired up with Cole. Jordan and Cole could be like Eric and Cole!

Plekanec makes more money then Staal, wouldn't be smart for the Penguins. Also the draft is in Pittsburgh, not sure fans would be so happy there

This move makes no sense for Pittsburgh and Staal this year has been coming into is own

lol, How is Normand Flynn's trade proposal any different from the ones of HF posters on the free agents/trade rumour board?
