Lala I seen on another board where you said you think PEI will trade there pick obviously thats a terrible idea but what dp you see the Rocket receiving for that pick?
Could Scoutman or Lala make a march rankings list of the first three rounds???? Unless you are just waiting til the atlantics/telus cup are over... Just wondering if your opinions have changed much...

If if they dont mind, take a stab at the 95's that will go mid draft or post round 8?
The word is that they are strongly considering Alexis Pepin.
That's possible but consider Pepin is not that much ahead of Keilly or Gallant wouldn't PEI Rocket rather take a local boy first. Help with the fans, which they desperately need.

Comments?
from a scout on QMJHl board
If you are lookign for a big soft offensively skilled player than yea...he reminds a lot of people of Benjamin Laliberte.
Pepin is kind of a wildcard...skilled, has size, but inconsistent and timid...no idea where he might end up but id stay away from him with a top 10 pick.
(welcometothebigshow2) --Thanks for your thoughts ,I just thought when scouts were scouting they looked at all parts of the games how players perform in regular & playoff games. I am new at this so glad to know that playoff hockey doesn't play a role in the draft thank again.

It does have some effect, but probably won't move kids up TOO far. It may make a difference of 1 or 2 spots, but nothing major. I am not a scout myself either, I am just a big hockey fan who likes to watch hockey as much as I can.

I think playoff performance does have an effect on draft position..gives scouts a double-take if a guy is on the fence. Last year MacKenzie Brown was nowhere in the regular season (3rd and 4th line) but finished second in playoff scoring for the Midget Habs. He was picked up in the 4th round I think by the Seadogs much to the surprise of many.

It is good to hear others opinions but, if you were completely invisible the whole regular season, than play well in playoffs, I don't think that will get them drafted.... For the Brown kid what's his size like??? Is he gritty and a real hard worker?? Just wondering as to this may be one of the reasons he got drafted...

Not gritty but a real hard worker. His forte is offense and when put on a line with Peter Trainor and Oliver Cooper his numbers took off. I think he had more points in the playoffs than the entire regular season.

Well he may have been on the radar before, but just went up in the rankings because of the playoffs.. He is a 95 am I correct??? Anyways he went 4th round of a possible 5th round.. Will he be playing next year?

I would think that he'll make the Seadogs next year.
So after reading the comments welcometothebigshow2,& the Boston strangler, I am now not sure what part playoff hockey play in the drafting these kids, if there is any working scouts out there that could comment on what part if any playoff hockey has in drafting these kids

Personally I put a lot more than most into playoff hockey performance. I've talk with a few scout that don't seem to change their minds very much on a player based on playoffs.
With that being said I believe most coaches for 15, 16 and 17 year old boys want to win. And as much as some people wouldn't like to believe it coaches may actually know their players better than us. If a coach is playing a kid a lot in key situations during the playoffs and he does as good or better than he did regular season, well chances are the coach and kid have confidence in his abilities and has character to boot.
If a player has decent numbers in the regular season and then lights it up in playoffs it matters period. (Aforementioned MacKenize Brown of Fredericton Canadians) He was taken by SJ.....I wonder if there scouting staff is any good
And like wise if a player had great regular season numbers but did nothing in playoffs I would question his compete level.
However I know that a player can still play well and not put up numbers, but at the same time I would rather aplayer play well and still put up numbers.
I know it sounds like a cliché but character is revieled in playoff.
I was speaking with a scout from the Peterborough area and he was telling me that it's a very odd year for both the O and the Q because both drafts are forward heavy, especially the O. He said that, although many teams are desperate for D help now, the draft's early rounds will be dominated by forwards. He's an OHL scout but said it was a similar story in the Q. Is he right? It seems to be that half of the Q teams are in need of big strong defensemen - not always available in a draft of 16 year olds.

Well, scoutman (our top prospect poster) who is a scout, said that this draft is defense heavy. But was talking to another scout who said that this draft is filled with smaller offensive defenseman who are great skaters,But lacking big strong D. so some of the bigger, stronger D will get picked higher according to him, so most teams probably are looking at trying to snag one of the big strong defenseman early in the draft.

if teams are looking for that big defensemen in this year draft they will probably look at some 95 def that were not drafted and have good size such as fratangelo, rouleau, amankwah, hillaire, labbe to name some.....

You're probably right. There were certainly too many defensemen on the wrong side of 160 pounds on the Q list I saw but he did have 6 or 7 in his top 30.
