My neices (24 and 21) are HUGE Mel Brroks fans. We got them into those movies when they were little.
They will still quote Madeline Kahn from "History of the World". But they did acknowledge that essentially none of their college age friends had ever seen a Mel Brooks movie.
What a tragedy!!! Hell...the Marx Brothers are well before my time but I've seen most (if not all) of their movies.
I'd love to see some people abandon ship. There were a whole lot of wagon jumpers that came out of the woodworks when the Bruins won. I'm not accusing anybody here. This is just my personal observation around Toronto. Last playoff run and during the early part of this year, I saw a lot of people wearing Bruins merchandise. Oddly enough, I don't see as much these days.
After the cup win, I gave the Bruins a mulligan for this year. Having said that, it's still frustrating to see what they have been going through lately. IF the team can get healthy in time for the playoffs (not expecting Horton back) then they can definitely compete.

You can blame injuries to an extent, hell you can blame it on fatigue too,but imo the other night in Tampa was a lack of compete,at least in the rangers and penguin games there was some pushback but in that Tampa game they were totally submissive
I abandoned ship; however, my row boat had several holes in it, I am currently treading water. If someone could throw in a life preserver if they have one to spare, that would be much appreciated!
But seriously, I am still sticking to my feeling that this team will be in the Eastern Conference finals, prob. game 7, let the chips fall where they may.
I don't even bother to think of myself as "old" anymore. When I had to explain "who" Monty Python was to one of my 20-something co-workers (I didn't even try to explain my Life of Brian), I finally gave up and dismissed them as "woefully uninformed".
At the ripe young age of 26 I must be one of the few enlightened I just bought both Blazing Saddles and Life of Brian remastered on Blu-ray. One of the best purchases I've ever made. Favorite Brooks movie by far is Robin Hood: Men in Tights though. Then again, I also own Airplane, a movie that I'm pretty sure is older than I am, so maybe I'm not representative of other people my age.
Did we quit when the Germans bombed Pearl Harbor ? !
hahahahahaha!
Wally. You really made me laugh and then the post below that said "did I miss something? the germans bombed pearl harbour?" made me laugh even harder! that absolutely made my day.
I'll never give up. If I didn't give up after May 14th, 2009 and 2010 then I never will.
I think the injury bug has effected the team and the level of competitiveness from the players.
I'm mildly bemused by those here who either think you're a true "on the wagon" Bruins fan, or less of one who's willing to jump "off the wagon."
Since I've been a fan for 40+ years, I feel that I have the right to put myself in the former category. Notwithstanding, this year's club continues to face significant problems.
Those who recognize them and make honest assessments of the team's prospects should not be villified by those who blithely assume that all the problems will inevitably clear up and that all will be fine in the end.
Things often don't work out that way.

Bruins HF Board: Come for the lunacy; stay for the snipefest.
Marchand: Today's Linseman
No matter what, Soderberg would've scored there

Maybe as in life, most people aren't one extreme or the other.
I love and support this team. That doesn't mean I blithely think everything will always be fine. It only means I don't crap all over them when things don't go well. To quote Mary Steenburgen in another movie classic, "Life is messy."

"So can anyone describe what happened here?" "Tell him, honey."
Great stuff.
haha! saw the movie like once, thought it was ok, and can't place any of those quotes in context. Next you're gonna be breaking out lines from "When Harry got Email from Seattle".

I'm not into romantic comedies; the only one I can think of that I've really liked was "While you were sleeping" because of the characters and dialogue.
"Ooh I want this one for my wallet" - Diane Weist, after finding nude pics of her daughter with her boyfriend.
"You made me play second base!" - Steve Martin's son screaming at him while on a shooting spree (in Martin's imagination).
"Tell him honey." - Martin to his wife when a cop asks him to explain a car accident. (Ahem)
Tons of other great lines. It's far from a perfect movie, but there's some wonderful scenes, and a great cast. Jason Robards having his heart broken by his son (Tom Hulce) is incredible.
