Palmieri needs to be on the RW imo.

This would be great! Only problem is the whole "who get's to play the right wing" but I hope they can sort it out. Then just let Ryan have the 2nd line and maybe put DSP on left wing (on 2nd)? Still need a center unless Holland or Bonino can cut it or they draft someone which is a long shot.

I would rather they keep Palmieri a RW and find a LW for Getz-Perry. Let Ryan and Palmieri team up, just find a center for them.

I'm repeating myself for a while now, Bonino! I really can see a line of Bobby - Bonino - Palmeri work. Bonino showed chemistry with both.

Etem is a kid who needs to play in the top 6. I think the Ducks should be wise in spreading out the offense next year.

Ryan Getzlaf Palmieri
Etem X Perry
Cogliano Bonino DSP
Beleskey X X

I think the Ducks would be wise to make Etem start in the AHL next season. If he doesn't miss a beat and performs at the same rate (relatively) then he can earn himself a call-up.

I would ok with this if Palmieri could consistently keep his play up. However Perry has earned the #1 RW spot. It is kinda funny out of all the line juggling we've seen during scoring droughts we have never (to my knowledge) tried separating Getz and Perry. At least not for very long. I have no problem with it...they would do just fine without each other. I was also thinking (depending on how Etem plays):

Etem Getzlaf Perry
Ryan X Palmieri

As much as I dont want a ton of rookies in the lineup I dont think we have much choice. I'd personally rather see our top prospects get a shot and have another avg season then watch Hagman/Blake filling in spots again.

Hagman-Getzlaf-Perry
Ryan-Bonino-Palmieri
Cogliano-Koivu-Selanne
Beleskey-Pelly-DSP

Pretty much evens the lines out perfectly. Wouldn't mind seeing this at least one game. As long as the 4th line gets enough minutes for DSP.

The nice thing about BB is there is no #1 line. They all get their minutes so splittling up Perry and Getzlaf is not as crazy as it was with Carlyle.

I want Etem in the AHL next year so that is why I do not include him in this.

I want to see Holland up in the NHL some this season to see what he can do for a short stint before putting too much into this but here it is...

UFA/Ryan/DSP-Getzlaf-Palmieri
UFA/Ryan/DSP-Holland-Perry
Cogs-Bonino-DSP/Beleskey

The way DSP works on the ice makes me want to put him up there in the top 6. I dont really know if he has the playmaking and finish to be in the top 6 but we will never know until he gets a chance.

Woops, for the third line RW I meant Palmieri. I wish we could clown DSP, though.

So instead of cloning DSP, you'll clone Palmieri?

You could probably clown DSP, you just have to set it up right.

Let us know who to ask to identify your remains afterwards though.

Here is my random and shocking thoughts about the lines next year. And this is IF Selanne retires and Koivu is gone:

Perry/Ryan-Getzlaf-Palmieri
- This should work. Perry perhaps not in his best position but the former MVP needs to atleast start in the 1st. but still can switch between Ryan and Perry.

?-?-Perry
- Balances the lines. And we need some big changes. Bring in whole new 2nd line center and winger. Bonino is fine but can he really play whole season in a top 6 role or DSP? i dont have any ideas for the blank spots but some changes need to happen.

Hagman-Bonino-DSP
- solid line. Has anybody considered trading Cogliano and using the salary for signing 2nd line winger&center?

Enforcer?-Ebbett-Ruutu/Beleskey
- If we could possibly sign Ruutu cheap, then why not? And i think we could use a heavyweight enforcer like Mcgrattan. Ebbett would fit with his salary to be a solid 4th line center.

7th: McMillan? (or is he still with us)

And if Visnovsky retires we can use hes salary for the search of new 2nd liners. And bring in Schulz or Vatanen.

Just planting seeds..

In that scenario, Cogliano would be first tried as the second line winger, or Hagman would. If we bring back Hags, one of those two are in a Top 6 role IMO. Then all it leaves is that elusive second line center which we so badly need. My guess is Koivu is the stop gap and from there we either look to Holland or possibly a Galencyuk if we can draft him. Would like to see Murray explore the trade route though. Also, Id rather someone like Thornton for that fourth line role over Ruutu, I dont think he has much gas left in the tank.

I don't see why we would bring Hagman back, unless he wants to play 4th line minutes. We already have a ton of competition for the third line - Belsekey, Cogliano, Bonino, DSP, Holland, McMillan etc, we need to address the top 6 first and foremost, assuming a prospect (Palmieri or Etem) can take up one spot in the top 6, it still leaves a winger and #2 centre to be acquired. Unfortunately if Murray wants to address the second line centre hole, he's going to have to trade for one.

x - Getzlaf - Perry
Ryan - x - Palmieri/Etem (If Selanne is back, he takes this spot and either Ryan or one of the young guys plays 1st line LW)
Cogliano - Holland/Bonino - DSP
Beleskey - x - x

That bottom 6 is still too soft for my liking, hopefully DSP can take massive strides forward this offseason as far as strength and skating ability are concerned.

If Selanne comes back then there's no doubt Murray will just fill the empty holes with him and Koivu. As great as it would be that Teemu is back, Koivu really isn't an ideal second liner anymore, his offensive production is extremely streaky and he's only really good for 40-45 points nowadays. That being said I'd probably rather have Koivu back in that role than to force one of Bonino or Holland there with no backup plan.

The more I look at next years potential roster, the more I think that it won't be much different to this years, if at all. The only thing that might change is we might not have Selanne.
