Would Mezsaros ever look good in a 3-5 spot now eh
I was and still am a big Meszaros fan but admitting that is the surest way to get flamed on this site.

We would be lucky if we got one guy who was close to a #3 from UFA. It is age obviously, but quality as well. Is it an upgrade to spend 2-3 million on Colaiacovo, or 4-4.5 million on a Barret Jackman. The way I see it, we would be lucky to get b, and a is more realistic, meanwhile I would pretty much rather have Lee at his salary than either player.

Yes, I was critical of Meszaros, has improved and Im not a huge fan of his, but he would be an upgrade right now. That being said, at the time, I was glad he was shipped off. Kuba is playing easily as well and at a cheaper rate. It was a haul for Meszaros, to say the least.

Oh I didn't mean to say anything about the way anyone felt about Mezsaros, I just meant to say that he would be an ideal guy on our second pairing now. I would be happy to sign a guy like Matt Carle to play with Phillips, and resign Kuba for 2 years.

Karlsson-Kuba
Cowen-Gonchar
Carle-Phillips

If Gilroy scored one of his open nets, I still wouldnt care. He would still be outscored by Brian Lee in the past several games. lol
Thats the thing there not short in terms of young d men.

Got a bunch that could end up in the bottom 4 pairings.

and there's always the FA route.

I dont see very much there to get too excited over. Especially considering everybody has considered Lee expendable due to only being a bottom pairing defenseman. Dont see any top 4s in there, Borowiecki included.

And you see top 4 in Lee?
He has been hanging around for years without any improvement in his game whatsoever. Sometimes you just have to let go and move on.

I was seeing improvement. He added a physical element that was lacking earlier and he eliminated the type of mistakes that players who try to do too much are prone to. I saw a player who simplfied his game and became very dependable. I just plain liked the guy and the way he persevered through adversity. Top four? It could happen.

I have seen a player that has played at that level, playing almost 20 minutes a game for a few stretches.

Also a player who seems to get benched or played very little on a consistent basis to fit in players who belong on AHL teams.

Do I see a #4 in Brian Lee, absolutely. I dont see a top pairing guy, but he is solid enough already to be a good bottom pairing guy at the very least. More than I can say about the AHL kids.

Murray and McLean didn't see top-4 in Lee. I trust them more on this for some reason.

How do you know he didnt ask to be moved. Seriously... it has been reported quite a few times Lee was not happy with how he was being treated.

I think you know jack **** about what Murray and MacLean see or did not see.

Gilroy can make up for that brutal miss by getting a game winner in the near future. Would accept one against any of MTL, TOR, NJ, BOS.

There's a valuable point he needs to help us get now. We're watching ya Matt!
