Simpson was pretty mediocre all year, except in the last month or so, where he's been the best goalie in the CHL.
What?
While I admit I have only watched a select few Q & O games over the last month I have watched almost every WHL game and have watched every one of Simpson's games.
He is far from the best in the CHL....not even close to that status in the WHL.
How many games have you watched him play in the last month?
Stop trying to disprove everyone by comparing penises. Tell WHY he is or is not whatever.
Note: I don't even disagree with you. I just despise your posts. You never try to explain your reasoning, you just make a claim and then spout off about how much you "amateur scout" if anyone disagrees with you. You are not a god and there's nothing to indicate you actually understand what you are seeing any better than anyone else when you never actually defend your statements.
I know exactly what it takes to be an amateur scout, and believe me, the fact you try to lord this over everyone else doesn't impress me in the least.
Let me know the stats on how many goals wer/are on first shots. Then give me the total of goals on <10' rebounds.
If your numbers support your positin, I will agree with your assessment that it is more the golatending rather than the D or D scheme.
The truth is, though, every team lets some of those happen. The goalie is still expected to stop their fair share of it. There's no such thing as a goal they had no chance on unless they were physically removed from making the save.
I am not going to argue our defense is particularly good, from a team standpoint. But we're not getting ANYTHING from our goalies for the most part. They are just plain letting in too many goals, at too poor times.
What you say is true, but the opposite is as well - better goaltending would lead to better circumstances outside the crease as well. Our offense would be better, our puck control would be better, we'd be playing from in front more, and all this would make our defense better too.

Kettle/black.
Why he is or isn't etc.? as stated because I have watched him play and I have watched the other dub goalies play.
"Yeah, Bob's better than everyone else. Why? Do I need a reason? I just say he is!"
If you could read you would see why.
I stated why.
I am discussing hockey and players......not running around insulting people.
I notice you often state your expert opinion....with zero backup.
I guess that you just operate under different rules than you want to impose on others.

"I've seen him more than you" is not a reason why.

Actually, all you do is declare things and then demand a comparison of who has seen a player more if anyone disagrees. I rarely see any actual discussion.

Here's the difference between you and me. If someone asks my reasoning behind making a statement, I give it. You? "I've seen the player more than you, so I am automatically right!"
Your right the goalies aren't to blame at all for any goal they give up ever!
The fact that they are 35th and 41st in SV% is totally the fault of everyone else on the ice but them.
Yes the Hawks D has been bad, but to blame the goaltending being historically bad soley on the D is asinine. Emery and Crawford have more then a fair share in their numbers being where they are, whether it's being out of position, letting in soft goals or just playing badly.
On the other hand, blaming the goalie is a cop out we see all too often. Last night was a perfect example. Q pulled Emery to wake up the team, more than anything else. And it worked, CC had little to do for the rest of the game. Problem being the Hawks need to play solid defensively for an entire game, not 20 or 40 minutes.
No, we don't have a shutdown goalie anywhere in our system and they won't steal too many games. We didn't when we won the SC either, but whose fault is that?
Klinkhammer is playing his 5th game with the Sens tonight which means you guys get a 7th in 2013. Thanks for Klink btw! He's been skating with Alfie and Turris and looking great.

I didn't completely blame the goalie. Goals are almost always a result of a failure by more then one person, however the goalie is most often one of those people. I know some of the goals given up are not the goalies fault just as I know some of them are. I am baffled though by soo many people just giving our goalies a complete and total pass, as though none of it is their fault at all, which isn't true.
No CC didn't have much to do, neither did Emery, 6 shots. Yes some of them where good shots but you can't let in 3 on six shots unless those shots where clear cut breakaways.
It's not that our goalies aren't shutdown they aren't good, they are terrible. I am not saying the Hawks need Lundqvist to win, but they do need a goalie who can steal a game from time to time and post a SV% better then .900.
I don't think a good goalie guarantees anything however I do find it funny that if I look up goalies stats, compared to standings the top goalies are usually playing on the top teams in the standings, seems to be a correlation.

Still, he could have blown it if he had even let in 1 goal at any point but he didn't.
Nobody was right or wrong about Stalberg except those who evaluated him as is at all times. There have been a lot of peaks and valleys in his play. He's still a work in progress.
I dug this up... It may have already been posted, but looks like Beach will hit the ice towards the end of March.
–Speaking of the injured Kyle Beach, his return to the line up is now targeted for either March 20th at home versus Hamilton or the weekend immediately following when the Houston Aeros are in Rockford for a pair Friday-Saturday, March 23-24.
The current estimate is keeping with the internal timeline targeted for Beach since mid-January. However, at that time the feeling was they were “hopeful” Beach would make it back by the end of March so he could at least play in a handful of games before the regular season ends for the IceHogs on April 14th. Should Beach return the week of March 20-25, a stretch of four games in six days beginning Tuesday the 20th, he’ll be available to play in the IceHogs final 10-12 regular season contests. Considering at one point it was feared Beach’s season was over, this is great news all around.
