What's better one dominant line or 2 above average lines?
In a thread about the Michelin line someone said that he thinks having one dominant line (Michelin line) is better than having 2 above average lines (Hags-Richards-Cally and Anisimov-Stepan-Gabby). Agreed? Should we just have one dominant line with not that much offense from the other 3 lines (although that's not a given till Cally comes back) or two solid lines that aren't all that dominant. The only thing about this question that may cause a problem is that it's been probably too limited of a sample to call the Michelin line dominant and also maybe Cally doesn't make the second line inept. However in theory given the choice of 1 great line or 2 good lines, what would you choose?
I still don't get why Cally is so much more effective than Dubi. Until this year I actually thought Dubi was more talented.
Cally is much more relentless. Cally is always getting involved. I won't say Cally is inherently a more skilled player, but he demolishes Dubi in the effort department.

Cally also has an IQ above room temperature. Dubinsky might be the dumbest human being I've ever seen and it shows on the ice. I seriously think he forgets how to shoot sometimes.
I fear that too that Michelin/Caramba needs to be separated.. or better anything possible to make other lines to produce.. which might as well be bringing new guys to the team
Basically, whichever center isn't on a line with Gabby is accused of being invisible during games. That's why Richards has been Mr. Wonderful the last few games and people have sent out search parties for Step. What does it mean? We need talented wingers. We need more than one line. Cally was on a hot streak before his injury, I hope he can get it back when he returns (...which is when, exactly?) but our defense is going to have to come up big for us. Can't let more offensively-talented teams like Pittsburgh get 5 on us because we simply don't have the talent to come back.
This defense is starting to remind me of the Bruins' collapse. I hope they can get back to where they were in the second half of march into April and the playoffs.
All we heard last year was Gabby needs to get his legs going, well Dubi is the same this year. At this point it's a lost cause IMO.
Give Zucc a shot w/ Step & Cally when Cally comes back.
The difference between Dubi and Gaborik was that Dubi in his best season wasn't really better than Gaborik in his worst season. Gaborik is a much better and more talented player. Even if Dubi returns to his average play he's not much more than a grinder.

That's not the point to me. The point is that he's underachieving. And, IMO, by a large amount. While their talent is obviously far different I think the comparison in effort & output is valid.

This is like the 20th post I see advocating the Pack line being back together. Didn't they try that earlier this season and didn't work? So we put two struggling players and hope Callahan (a good player but not a guy that carries a line) carries them? What has Dubinsky done to be any more than a 3rd line player?
definitely don't split up a hot line just cause the others aren't scoring...if they go cold or we start running into bad matchups against a team with 1 dominate d pair then maybe you are forced to shake things up. but while they are hot you ride them.
and there is absolutely zero reason why we can't have a good 2nd line behind them between cally, dubi, step, artie...

I think you have to take a look at that line. Remember the pack line can be used as a defensive matchup line as well. It may not work, but I think Torts can give it a try.
