Because he was on a 3 game shutout streak... not to mention his tear since the All Star Game.
Much as I love Bryz, MAF. Fleurys top level performance is higher and when he is playing poorly, his poor is still leaps and bounds better than what we saw from Bryzgalov earlier in the season.

Your point? You've conveniently used the last 23 games because that was the start of fluerys 9 game winning streak and bryzgalov still has been better.. I'll play ball
Bryzgalov last 23 games
14-5-3. .931 sv% 1.98 GAA 5 SO
Fluery last 23
19-3-1 .926 sv% 2.17 GAA 1 SO
Whos been better in your convenient 23 game stretch? Let's do last 10 games and see how much further bryzgalov wins? Bryz without a doubt has been better than MAF since 2012

I used those numbers because those are the numbers that I had and I had no idea what Byrz's numbers were but just pointing out that Fleury had been on a tear. Fleury's the better goalie though which was the question asked in the poll.

Based on what? Bryzgalov was better the last 3 years. And fluery was better for the first half of this year, second half has been bryzgalov. Fluery is more consistent but better is arguable... 3 1/2 seasons vs 1/2 season?

Even if we accept that Bryz has been the better goalie in the second half of the season it doesn't change the fact that Fleury's first half was tons better than Bryz's. I'd also argue that Fleury was better last year given how he carried the Pens especially in the 2nd half of the year when they were without Crosby and Malkin. Fleury also had the better year statistically 08-09. Also Fleury's playoff performance blows Bryz's out of the water.

How about the 3 shutouts bryz had in the playoffs for the ducks? You're nitpicking. I agree fluery overall has been clearly better this year, his first half was much better than bryz 2nd half.. But you honestly thng fluery was better than bryz the last 2 years? Bryz was a top 5 goalie the last 2 years consensus
During the season as a whole? MAF without a doubt.
It's no secret that bryz was really struggling early in the season... while it does seem that he has turned things around... we are still in a cautious optimism mode with him. Now, if he keeps it together for the rest of this season, into the playoffs, then starts off well next season... then this thread might be a better idea.
