Mary, marry, merry
These words (and similar vowel words), how do you pronounce them?
I pronounce them all differently.
The a in the name Mary I pronounce like the vowel sound in the word air. M(air)-ee
The a in the verb to marry (like marriage) I pronounce like the a in apple. If you have trouble thinking about it, say this: "Apple, Mapple, Marry"
The e in the word merry I pronounce like the e in the word met.
All three have distinct sounds. Who's with me?

I voted they all sound the same, but then I actually said them. If I could, I would change my vote to Mary and marry being the same with merry being different.

^ This. But it's close. The difference between marry and merry may just be in my head.

Mary and marry are pretty much the same, but I say merry sliiiiiightly different. I stretch out the corners of my mouth (the same ay you do when faking a grin) to say merry, but don't do so for Mary or marry.
