I find it kind of interesting that a fair chunk of the swedish topscorers in Elitserien passed through Allsvenskan on their way there. It got me thinking that it is perhaps better for young players to develop their offense in Allsvenskan rater than developing to defense specialist playing limited minutes in Elitserien.

3. Richard Gynge (spent four seasons in Allsvenskan)
4. Mikael Johansson (Developed in division 1, then one season in allsvenskan)
5. Silfverberg (doesn't fit the theory)
6. Pär Arlbrandt (Spent loads of seasons in Allsvenskan)
7 Davidsson (doesn't fit the theory)
8. Simon Hjalmarsson (spent 1,5 seasons in allsvenskan, turning on to a productive player on senior level)
9. Jimmie Ericsson (played a couple of seasons in Allsvenskan)
10. Carl Söderberg (played loads of seasons in Allsvenskan)
11. Järnkrok (doesn't fit the theory)
12. Sebastian Lauritzen (Played loads of seasons in Allsvenskan)
13. Sundström (doesn't fit the theory)
14. Nikas Olausson (developed in to a productive player in Allsvenskan)
15. Ottosson (doesn't fit the theory)
Maybe it's a good move from Skellefteå to send a player like Oscar Lindberg to Allsvenskan for a while and let him develop offensively, instead of giving him fourth line minutes in SEL. Players like Cehlin, Johan Sundström, Wännström, Rohdin, Friberg et.c. could probably also do with some seasoning in a league where they could play on a offensive line and get time in PP.
The majority of the topscorers in Elitserien isn't players that started out in Elitserien and stayed there, gradually getting better and better, but not good enough for NHL, as you would think. Instead theese kind of players like for example Anton Axelsson, Björn Svensson and Andreas Molinder instead seem to get stuck in their career, not really developing.
I agree, i think that allsvenskan should be more like AHL and SEL should be closed but here is one big problem. This is Sweden.

If SEL is to be closed then more teams than 12 will be in the mix, and currently the level of teams isn't good enough for a change like that imo.
I am puzzled by the fact that young players e.g. Collberg, Wannstrom are stuck on 4th line instead of being lend out to an allsvenskan team for a longer period of time to aid their development playing top minutes in an offensive role?
Skelleftea is doing what i would like all SEL teams to do, yes allsv will be viewed as an development league but as long as the window to SEL isn't closed i don't see any dissadvantages. By adding top Superlit players to allsv it will only lift the level of the league, being more offensive minded and faster.
One sidenote cheerup could do a similiar list of players passed through Allsv on their way to NHL, Backlund, Berglund who else?

You actually think surrounding towns will support the closest elitserieteam? The thought of your own citys team advancing probbs sell 50% of the tickets. Very objective....
It's a bit off topic, but what do you think about Július Hudáček - goalkeeper of Södertälje? Is there anybody, who have seen him to play in Allsvenskan? Is there a chance, he will develop the way such as Viktor Fasth?
One of the reasons that so few of the top scorers in Elitserien started out their career there could be that those who did, and had the potential to be top scorers, ended up in the NHL soon after. Those who take the Allsvenskan route tend to be the long term Elitserien players (with some exceptions of course).... especially if we look at the names in the first post. I guess some of those young 4th liners in Elitserien could benefit from playing in Allsvenskan though.

This is the point I am trying to make. Playing limited minutes on a fourth line isn't as developing for a player as playing on a scoring line in Allsvenskan (with PP-time). This and that Allsvenskan really works as a development league for SEL (and that theres plenty of player that could do pretty well in SEL in that league). Compare how things look in Finland (Mestis is nowhere near as succesful at pumping out players for SM-liiga). Often players from Allsvenskan need a year or so of transition time, there is players that have great succes in their first year in SEL, but often it takes a couple of seasons for the players to peak.
Was looking for information on this player when I came across this post. He's a former 2nd-round pick that put up pretty decent numbers for Lulea this year.
Would he be considered a candidate for an unrestricted free agent contract or is his future there in Sweden?
