That's not bad considering I would have to pay £9 just for a student ticket to watch Swindon in the EPL

more expensive than panthers tickets, which is odd considering it's pretty much the same ownership group.

Also Cardiff are putting in for planning permission on a new rink and should have an answer in May, all going well construction will start March 2013 and they will be in the new 3,100 seater arena for the start of the 2014/15 season.

The arena will have 2 icepads and by 2017 the complex will have developed to have 2 ski slopes as well as a 'winter world' for kids.

If this gets passed in May it's awesome news, not just for hockey but for winter sports in general for the UK

The Nottingham Arena is probably more expensive to hire out than Braehead, though. Plus Nottingham have a bigger fan base and prices are probably more inelastic.

The new Cardiff rink is a great development and with the 2 ice pads it means kids can get more time on the ice, since very little is available in the current rink with an Elite team, ENL1 and ENL2, 5 junior teams, university teams and a bunch of rec teams. I think part of Nottingham and Sheffield's junior success is the fact that they have 2 ice pads.

I can't see Peterborough taking the last playoff spot from you, if you guys can take the 7th spot from Swindon you'll have to hope Slough finish 2nd because you match up against them better than Manchester and Sheffield, who you have only beaten once this season. Guildford are pretty much guaranteed to finish 1st at this point, you seem to play harder against them though especially after the Sharp running Annetts incident

I lined in Bracknell back in January, an OT win against Swindon, so you might have seen me

Will probably come down to the double header against them in a few weeks time. I'm not writing them off just yet, they did pretty well and were unlucky not to get a point or two against Guildford last week.

Despite our crappy record against Manchester they are certainly very beatable, not the team they were last season. We've done awfuly at the Spectrum and the Hanger so far so whether its the Flames or we catch 7th and somehow get Jets I dont think it will make much difference. Although against the Flames weve done pretty well at home.

Haha well I remember the game at least, especially the fact that it took us to be two imports out for us to play a hard agressive game for 60 mins.

Panthers look like they'll be winning the challenge cup again on tuesday night, we have a 5-1 lead from the first leg away in Belfast, 3rd year running with that cup it should be.

Also with the league chances down the ******* again our back up has been getting some starts, hopefully keeping K-wall fresh for the play offs.

It's ridiculous that some goalies play pretty much every game in that league, I guess it really helps to have a guy like Green or Woolhouse who can be relied on to have a few starts, instead of signing a kid to just sit on the bench. Most of the EPL teams have now gone down the road of signing two reliable goalies.

Hmmm, I've been asked if I'm available to officiate at conference weekend in Hull. I'm not sure if I want to do it because it's near my exams, plus it's a long way to go just to get paid expenses. Only the better officials get asked to do it so it's very prestigious to be chosen, I would still need to go through a further selection process.

I expect James Norris will want me to do it so I can scout young talent for him but I really don't know if I should do it or not

The biggest two games of the EIHL regular season happening tomorrow and Saturday.
I'm obviously hoping for a pair of Steelers wins, but I think the Giants will all but wrap up the title with a big win on Friday.

Welcome to HF avoid the Trade Proposals board if you want to keep your brain cells and/or sanity

And things you need to know for the NHL talk board:
When a player does something bad it's given a rating out of 5 "Classless Subban's"
Whenever there's a debatable headshot with a pending suspension, Shanaban(Shanahan) is turning the NHL into a no-hitting league.
We are supposedly entering the second "dead-puck era" because goalies are now bigger and better.
The refs are biased towards your team.
Any team with a good defense is boring and plays a trap.

Thanks for the welcome/heads up.
Being a veteran of the Avs official boards, sadly I'm well aware any kind of trades send people over the top!

Good to see more Brits appearing on the boards, though I have to hate you by default due to the Steelers thing

In my opinion the British hockey rivalries of Nottingham-Sheffield, Chelmsford-Romford and the old Fife-Edinburgh rivalry put all NHL rivalries to shame

I can throw some subtle 1956 references in from time to time if that helps the hate

I like the way things are lining up for the playoffs, there should be some very good match-ups.

-I doubt Dundee/Edinburgh could unseat Belfast, even with a Chris Whitley miracle.

-Hull could give my boys a good run as we seem to play quite poorly in Hull a lot of the time and they seem to be very close games for the most part.

-Nottingham vs Braehead/Coventry could be a great match-up either way. Cov seem to get smashed by Nottingham one game and then beat them the next and you never know which Clan side you are going to face they are so up and down.

-Cardiff vs Braehead/Coventry. Again another good match-up that could go either way.

Either way there should be some good playoff games, even if this current format sucks.

In the words of Gary Moran; "The biggest rivalry in European hockey"

I laugh but Cardiff-Sheffield and Coventry-Nottingham have been good rivalries in the last few years, although without Mr Voth the Devils-Steelers won't be the same.

I much, much prefered the old playoff system the EPL used a few seasons ago. Two groups consisting if:

1st place team
3rd
5th
7th

2nd
4th
6th
8th

Everyone plays everyone home and away, top two progress to the finals, top teams play the oposite second placed teams. It gave lower teams a better chance of qualifying, and those playoff group games were always the highest attended games of the season.

From the Steeler's fan forum the other week it seems the EIHL is going back to the group format for the playoffs next year and teams will have coloured home jerseys.

I was surprised and at the same time happy to see how much he gave away at that fans forum, especially all the stuff in terms of the league and finances. We need a few more people like that to be honest in this sport.

On the Dundee clip that was on the EIHL site, a Scottish Cup will be played next season.
I see this year that the EIHL is 9th on the Euro attendance chart breaking the 2,000 marlk avg up from 1,860 last season.

And Belfast are crowned Champions after a crushing 5-1 win.

Very well deserved, over the course of the season they were by far the best top-to-bottom team and ground out the results when they needed them.

It was odds on for a Cardiff v Braehead final series but the last two weeks have been so all over the place for the Clan that they have dropped into a real battle with Coventry for that 5th place. But with a tough game against Nottingham tonight, it might be hard for Braehead to clinch that 5th spot now. Hopefully the Galbraith that shows up is the hard working leading scorer rather than the lazy pot shotter I saw a couple of weeks ago.

Lined Basingstoke v Telford EPL tonight, cracking game. Basingstoke lost it for themselves in the first period trailing 3-0. A scoreless 2nd then Basingstoke were all over Telford for the entire 3rd period, and Declan Ryan stood on his head, only allowing 1 goal and Telford scored an empty netter to make it 4-1. Ryan is unbelievable when he is on his game but I don't think he's consistent enough yet to be an undisputed number 1 in the EPL yet.

Bad result for the Bees tonight villevalo! Looks like I'll be eating my words when I said it's unlikely Peterborough will pinch the final playoff spot from you

Those results don't really do us justice because our regular season hasn't yet finished, and attendances appear to pick up in the final weeks of the season. A Steelers fan also said their average attendance this season is higher than some of the teams in the top 100 but somehow they aren't on the list
