6-0 final. Saw a funny sign which read. Where's Gomez

I love the addition of Sawada to the team. He really adds grit to the team

I agree that macachek deserves a longer look at the NHL level but I would definitely have a strong alternative plan in place

He is a completely one dimensional player that adds absolutely nothing when he is not scoring, but does not have the talent to play in an offensive role in the NHL. Not to mention he is 30 years old.

Machacek is 23 years old, is big and physical and can play in any situation. His offense would just simply be a bonus, which is showing that he has some upside in that regard. At VERY worst, he is Chris Thorburn, IMO (decent 4th liner with good size and can hit a little). He has nothing left to prove at the AHL level.
He absolutely does. Thats why I have him in every lineup in those roster threads It's now his third consecutive year he's playing good in the AHL. Always is one of the last cuts in pre-season and has always played a better following season as the season before. It IS time for him to get a roster spot in the NHL and I'd be pretty disapointed if he doesn't get a fair chance next year from Noel and co.

He definitely needs a shot, but you did mention he's in his third season in the AHL.

Again i have some unexplainable vendetta against this guy, but I'll admit he needs a good look, but I'm also of the mind set he's kinda on his LAST look.

He's gotta make the jump next year or I think he'll be a career ahl player.

Assuming the likely third line wing spot is not filled via other means he's probably the best available candidate to fill it. He's older and appears to have been better in the AHL than Klingberg up to this point, and Telegin will likely start in the A unless he has an amazing camp.

All in all it will probably be between Machacek and Cormier for one spot If there is one available for a rookie. Machacek's older, more or less the same size, and has proven more in the minor's.. Wouldn't be too surprised if he's up with the Jets next year.

How has John Negrin looked.

I saw he was named "Mary Browns player of the game" last night.

Patrice Cormier seems to be on fire lately.

I think he could finished 1st on the IceCaps in goals, despite playing less games and getting off to a slow start.

Cormier or Mahachek should get the most goals by the end of the season I'd guess.

It the Mary Brown's hardest working player, yep he won during the romp over Hamilton.

He has only played in one or two games I've seen. He seems a solid defenseman, but doesn't stand out ahead of our other D-Men. He has played a couple of games in a row due to Festerling having what is supposed to be a minor injury.

In other news

The Caps have sold out all 32 home games.

STH are getting first crack at extra tickets for the playoffs and for next year. I am hoping I get tickets for some playoff games, and I am going halfs on a pair of ST for next year to guarantee access for playoffs in future years.

Great atmosphere in Mile One for the last two games I've seen. The crowd was really getting on Holtby, the Bears goalie last Friday. The whole rink was going "Holtbyyyyy". Lots of fun.

The next two games are against Manchester Saturday and Sunday. The Caps have owned them this year going 5-0 against them this season. The Caps are 18 points up on Manchester and have two games in hand on them. Caps are 20 points up on Worcester but the Sharks have one game in hand on the Caps.

Saturday, being St. Patrick's Day the Caps are wearing green uniforms, which are being given to lucky fans after the game.

Man I could go for some Mary Brown's chicken. So much better then KFC. Hopefully I can get out there next season to see a game and visit some family.

Leaving NHL prospects aside my two favourite players on the team are Kevin Clark and Travis Ramsay.

Clark plays way above his size and never stops on the ice. He is always in the play.

Ramsay might not be the quickest but he is very reliable in his own end. He rarely coughs it up and can be counted on to make the right play. Got a pretty good shot too.

Cool,

You should try to get down to a game. Lots of fun at the rink, same kind of atmosphere as at MTS just on a smaller scale.

I dont know if I was clear but I used to live in NF. Raised in MB moved to NF now back in MB.

Ya I am trying to plan a trip that will land on next year season. My cousin is finishing up his last year with the Bous in the mens league out there so I would rather come when he has more free time.

Seems to have taken a major step forward point production wise this season, could be a late bloomer.

That puts us at 50 Contracts now I believe, though we'll have several expire at the end of this season.

Pretty sure Melchiori's contract will not start until July 1.

Good call by Paradise, we'll see how he does in St. John's next year. Some decisions will need to be made there, there's still Cody Sol and maybe Will O'Neill that could be added to the blueline there, and they already have plenty of bodies. Interesting.

Does anyone have any details on this contract? I'm assuming 2-way.

I hope O'Neill gets a contract, captain of his team and pretty good production for a D-Man in the NCAA. Might not have much in the way of NHL upside but seems like he could be a really useful minor leaguer to me.

Should be a standard ELC, 3 years around 600,000 probably.

Edit: Stanislav Galiev was drafted one pick before him in the 2010 draft and got $618,333 so I'd guess Melchiori will get something similar.

It's an ELC so it HAS to be twoway. All ELC's are. For Melchiori as a 20 year old, it also MUST be a 3 year deal.

Haven't seen any details, but probably 600-700K range I would imagine.
