If Rads terminate contract and buy his contract out (2/3 of what remains on it) he is still Ufa' s property till the date, contract was set to expire originally.
He also can terminate contract and refuse to pay, then he becomes "conflict" player, and Ufa will hold his rights for unlimited period of time, if he at some point decide to go back to KHL, he will have to fulfill his contact, basically play it out in full.
If Rads
So he could actually just terminate it, not pay, and just walk away and they'll hold his rights until he comes back. But he doesn't WANT them to hold his rights apparently ... well this is not going to end until the summer, sounds like.
Unfortunately, I'm guessing it will be cheaper for Rads to stay in Russia and come play a full year on his ELC next year than it would be for him to buy 2/3'rds of his remaining contract.
The "gentleman's agreement" wasn't so gentlemanly. Sure you can leave, but it's going to cost you A LOT. And you'll still be ours for another year if you return. Radulov wanted out of Salavat, probably because of the coach.
Maybe he decides to just play in the WC and come over next season.
So this may turn out like most of our other trade deadlines (except for this season). Sooooo close, but the price was just too high.
The ides of March were unkind to the Preds. No Radu and likely a broken wrist for the Goose.
if Ufa wants to retain his riights they are being stupid.
they should let him leave as a "conflict player" and thus they will have his rights whenever he comes back.(just like we have his rights here)
if he buys himself out, sure it costs money(which I predict he is asking the Preds to pay as we speak) but Ufa would lose his rights next summer.
to me, I think Radulov doesnt ever want to play for Ufa again, and he is probably hoping we would pay for his buyout, then play here this year and next, then go back to Russia as a free agent.
I think this is a Radulov issue, not a Ufa issue... he wants his cake and to eat it too
Silver lining. Radulov is free next year which would mean a full year of Radulov at less than a millon
Do we even know his contract situation for sure? First there was another year left on it, now there's not...this is so sketch. Too bad there's no NHLnumbers.com for the KHL.

There is no WAY that Poile pays that buyout money without locking Rads down to an extension...right?
But do we even want him to lock him down before he ever plays for us??
Weird, weird situation. I don't know who to be mad at, but I'm mad!
Everything is at a standstill. Ufa doesn't want to lose Radulov rights, and he doesn't want to buy himself out. They're still trying to find another way out.
Doesn't think Nashville can pay the buyout under the current CBA.
Radulov doesn't want to do to Russia what he did to Nashville.
Chesnokov said the possible reasons for that include:
the unknown CBA situation
doesn't want to hurt his Russian image in case he wants to come back later
also mention the olympics coming up
There could have been one more that I missed but they were pretty much all the reasons people have already speculated about.
-Says the latest is that Rads doesn't want to pay the buyout and Ufa doesn't want to lose the rights
-Preds can't front the $ in a contract, but may be able to after the CBA expires (too late).
-Said that Rads doesn't want to damage his image in Russia and just leave like he did here, so he wants to do it right. Said he's the face of the KHL.
-Says he's much better and complete than when he left. Much more physical.
...Then my boss walks in and I'm back to work. Sorry...couldn't catch the rest. He did slip in there that he believes that Rads will be back, but not sure when or how.
Is he a complete free agent with UFA Salvat after April 30th
Why do they still need his rights, they're just being childish about this
Mevedev should have some common sense in this matter and just terminate Rad's contract.
What's UFA going to do with his right for one more month anyways.
I could be wrong here, but I believe that he has another year that the team can pick up. If they release him before the 30th then they lose that right. If they let him buy himself out then they retain the right for the extra year.
