I can't believe people are talking about Beach not getting a call up. Do people not realize he's missed all year aside from the first 8 games? He's not going to be able to come up and play with the big club when he's clearly too hurt to play for the minor club. It's not like there was room for his over 1 million dollar cap hit for him to come up last year anyways even if we wanted him with how backed up the Hawks . Similar situation to Bobby Ryan in Anaheim when he was first coming up in that regard.

I've already tempered my hopes with Beach from where they were at the time of the Hawks drafting him. Wasn't Brouwer 22/23 when he was breaking in the League? He's a guy that gave the Hawks some value and was a good depth guy on the Cup winning team. He netted the Hawks a pretty good return at the draft (late 1st) when Bowman decided he didn't want to pay him (and I question that move to be honest, Washington only signed him for two years and it's not like we're using that cap space on anyone currently.. and I'm pretty sure Campbell was already gone so Bowman was shedding cap for no particular reason at that point. Regardless, Brouwer will likely be in the NHL for around a decade if his career doesn't deteriorate (because of injuries, laziness, whatever).

I think Beach can be a guy like Brouwer (not the same in terms of everything but in terms of how good they are). If he's a guy who can be a 2nd/3rd liner up and down type guy who can give a physical presence to a team desperately lacking it who can play shotgun on a Kane/Toews or Sharp/Hossa (or any combination of the four) or develop defensively (as he was doing in Rockford when he played on a shutdown line last year) into a good third liner with Bolland... with just enough of a goal scorer's touch to finish, then that'd be cool. Add in a likely cheap RFA contract after not having much (or any) NHL experience and it could be a good mix.

I just hope the injury doesn't hurt his developments. Missed time really sucks for players that need to be getting better. He should stop fighting ASAP. It's a waste of time and meant for guys like Bollig who aren't skilled enough to do much.
