It's a big challenge, but we can play down the Islanders level and find a way to lose this one. Weber and Campoli will be key. Tragic that Gomez is out just when we need his suckitude the most. Anyone know if Kaberle will be back?

Carolina plays Minnesota, it doesn't matter who wins that one... someone close to us is getting 2 points.

A 3 point game there would be fantastic though.

This is an interesting quote from Wikipedia on football tanking. RC is using some of those tactics ftw

Quote:
Tanking

The priority draft pick, under the pre-2012 format where it could be automatically awarded based on a measurable season performance, became controversial because of the potential for corruption. There was annual speculation that poorer performing teams manipulated their results after they were eliminated from finals contention, in order to ensure they remain below the eligibility criterion and receive a priority pick; this was referred to as "tanking."

There are a wide variety of behaviours which could be considered to be tanking. These include:
• Instructing the players to deliberately lose matches
• Employing unusual tactics in matches, including using players in positions where they do not usually play
• Resting star players with minor injuries, who would likely not be rested if the team were contesting finals
• Playing younger players who do not yet have much experience at AFL level

While all of these behaviours can be interpreted as an attempt to avoid winning matches, all but the first point can also be justified as a sensible player management and development strategy for a team with no chance of playing finals. This complicates the debate about tanking.

Also complicating the debate is the fact that different people have different opinions on what is acceptable behaviour. When speaking about West Coast's 2010 priority draft pick, coach John Worsfold openly defended his right to play young players in unfamiliar positions to assist their development; but, when speaking about Carlton's 2007 priority draft pick, assistant coach Tony Liberatore said he personally thought it was wrong to play younger players in place of senior players whose niggling injuries would not be bad enough to force their omission if the team were playing finals.

In addition to the allusions to corruption, tanking has the significant issue that fans of poor performing clubs sometimes openly support against their teams on match-day. The legal implications of tanking on sports betting is also a significant problem, and in 2009 a betting agency suspended betting on the wooden spoon when it became concerned about the potential legal ramifications if tanking or corruption were ever proven.

Still funny to read this. And still true. Could actually turn out to be our most important game in years actually.... Where's Gomez when you actually need him?

Yes sir. That would be good.

BTW, saw that Galchenyuk came back and got hurt... again. That guy might be made of glass. Not sure if we're going to have a choice on one of the top forwards in the draft but it sure would be nice to be able to decide between a few of them.

Add in a little bit of 'bad coaching', a pinch of 'delay game' and a large amount of 'useless 3 bottom lines' and we're on our way to win this defeat! Go Habs Go!

FINGERS CROSSED FOR CHRIS LEE !!!! Please, if this guy is officiating tonight's game, we're sure it's gonna be controversial as hell!! Please please please!

Pacioretty pulls a Gagner/Gretzky/Coffey and has an 8 point game scoring 7 goals and getting 1 assist.
Price plays a shift as a forward and scores a hat trick in under 30 seconds.
Kaberle returns and has 17 assists.
Markov "returns" and has 79 points in 1 game setting the all time record.
Cole has 13 goals in the first half of the first period.
Cunneyworth hangs himself from the bench using Gomez's string from his pants even though Gomez is nowhere to be seen.

I can see Cole getting a hattrick in this game. Who over there is going to stop him? Last time Montoya played at the Bell Centre he was pretty bad too.

Cole played less than 17 minutes last night, which is below the 20+ minutes he usually gets, so he should be fine to go tonight. I also bet he knows how close to 30 he is & wants to make that mark.

I expect Pleks to be tired tonight though. He killed off an awful lot of penalties last night.

If Markov plays, we win for sure. I expect Budaj in net tonight. Back-to-back, season over, it would be silly to play Price.

3 point game with Minnesota winning will put them both 2 points ahead of us.

Also, Carolina has 1 game in hand on us and Minnesota has 2 which is good for us!
