It's funny looking at the Sens board and talking about Neil destroying Grabovski (which he didn't) like it would have been some sort of accomplishment.
No one does it as often as Neil. That's his game. Don't tell me it isn't I've been watching this goof since early 2000.
Exactly and he was talking with Phaneuf for a while and didn't drop the gloves against him. He's lucky he got tossed, he would have had a huge target on his back if he didn't.
He's a pest and he took off one of the Leafs' best players for the rest of the game. He's doing his job.
There's a difference between going after a star player who has actually fought before and one who hasn't. Even pests chose the former, he chose the latter, which explains why he's a joke.

I don't get this "going after rookies" makes you a coward. His job is to give the team a momentum shift.
Neil has also gone after players much tougher, he's a coward though.

He was talking to Phaneuf after the Leafs scored and did nothing, instead he chose a weaker and vulnerable target then fought a complete non-fighter. That's not attempting to give your team a momentum shift, that's being a gutless coward.

Neil's also fought much tougher guys than Phaneuf.

Chris Neil's opponents over past three seasons (2009-2012):
L. Schenn x 2
Walker x 2
Jackman
Boulton x 2
S. Thornton x 2
Chara x 2
Begin
Konopka
Staubitz
Grabovski
Downie x 2
Goddard
Rupp
Rypien x 3
Mayers
Exelby
Tarnarsky
Brown
Engelland x 2
Seidenberg
Westgarth
Orr
Shelley
Rome
B. Holmstrom
What, maybe two of those aren't fighters (Grabo and Seidenberg)?
Give me a break. I was impressed to see Grabovski come to the defense of his teammate, but he engaged that one himself. He hung in there pretty nicely as well. You people are being ridiculous.

Regardless, I don't see how you can justify going after a rookie and then fighting Grabo when he skated away from Phaneuf....
Yeah, not afraid of anyone so he goes after a rookie and Grabovski....
If the Leafs had someone truly intimidating then maybe Neil doesn't go after Ashton. Chris Neil does whatever he wants out there. That's why I love him. He doesn't care who you are, he'll hit you as hard as he can and he'll you no matter who you are (and doesn't shy away from tough players either).
