Me too but I'll be much easier to pry away from the TV, if you know what I mean.

For sure. Especially with a 19 month old around, most of the time I miss the 1st period anyways

I would love Bob Hartley. Total hardass, I think he could whip a player like Borque into an actual productive player. He cannot stand floaters and likes playing rough, seems like the coach we've been waiting for!

Too bad the organization doesn't use the Best Person Available policy when it comes to general managers and coaches. Political pandering is turning this team into the NHL family's inbred country cousin.
Admittedly I am not french and do not speak it but I am a fan of this team and first priority is a winning team, not what language, place of birth,or colour of skin.

I agree with you, even if french is my first language, I want the best man to do the job. Hopefully Mr Molson will understand that.

I would not touch it either with a 100 inch pole. A 100' pole though, maybe.

Coaches should be tough, but I dont want a repeat of JM where he couldnt deal with young players who were immature or couldnt be pigeon holed into his rigid system and so was dumping them onto the 4th line and playing grinders top 6. Result was players being thrown away. Want a coach who gets the best out of players he has by recognizing strengths and weaknesses and giving the chance to be successful. One group JM actually did that with was DD line. DD is talented but needs size on wings and that is what he has. Its called synergy.

So, I’m not one for rumour-mongering normally, but a French hockey blog site that I read quite frequently is saying that two really good sources are stating that Patrick Roy was approached by Geoff Molson directly about the head coaching job and that Roy has accepted with certain conditions, that Molson apparently agreed to.

One of them is to have freedom to choose his assistants. One of the assistants would be Andre Tourigny, and the other could potentially be Benoit Groulx, should he decide to take the job.

As for the GM, apparently Molson has not yet decided, but is leaning towards getting rid of Gauthier. People on his list include, Julien Brisebois, Jim Nill (!), Vincent Damphousse and Pierre McGuire (blech!), with Brisebois and Damphousse having the inside track.

Take it for what it’s worth, but this site has been right on MANY things in the past, including the fact that PG was talking with Calgary about some type of Cammy for Bourque deal at least a month before it happened. The site also reported other deals well in advance and has just been pretty reliable for inside information in general.

Discuss."
I'm a little suspicious of that tidbit for two reasons.

1) Normally a president or owner hires a GM and the GM picks his man. So this piece sounds like a BS story.

2) However, if this story is true then this organization is in deeper kaka then we realize. The owner/president picking a coach and then telling the GM work with him just has fail written all over it.

Don't be ^&%$ silly. Shoot Damphousse in the balls. Not yourself.

But otherwise I agree with you. I'm not particularly fond of him as a GM.

I want Brian Burke, if the Leafs fire him. I'm tired of having gutless and dumb GMs. André Savard had balls, like Burke.

PS Why does everybody hate Damphousse ? Because he doesn't have experience ? Because he's on TV ? What makes everybody think he'd be a terrible GM ?

Savard didn't really have balls, he wouldn't give up Theo to get Kovalchuk.

Theres a funny quote from patrick roy is todays Local paper

They did a piece on David desharnais Roy mentionend that he tried to acquire twice while he was playing juniors

by the end of the article he says the only thing thats shocking him is that he's centering the 1st line of the Canadiens everyday he must showed up to the arena and say " Thank you tomas for not doing your job"

Yet he had the balls to include Markov in the same trade.

And the balls to come down from the rafters with intent to slap a ref with the rulebook. Never gonna forget that.

Savard = giant BALLS.

The trade didn't happen because he didn't want to put Theo in. He can include whoever he wants, but if it isn't getting done, the giant balls comment sounds pretty hollow.

Or maybe it was because Theo was young and was our Vezina/MVP trophy winner so he saw potential in him? Savard, and the rest of us, were really high on Theodore at the time, yet you fault him for valuing a MVP goaltender.

He was a good, young starter at the time. The reason he didn't want to include him was probably because he was scared of the backlash. You're one season off.

Hold on sec...there's giant balls and then there's stupidity. The Gomez trade was that a case of giant balls or stupidity? Or the Ribiero trade? sometimes you gotta let your giant brain over rule your giant balls.
