Neil gets the win. But Staubitz was at the end of his shift

Yeah didn't see the point of that one, that early in the game, at the end of a shift. Neil controls the entire fight, but a decent bout nonetheless.

I think this fight might be a momentum changer for the Sens.

We will see.

Clear win Neil. I hate his post fight celebrations though.

I don't see any big punches there. I say draw. Especially since Staubitz was at the end of his shift.

Staubitz gets the jump and gets an ass kicking for it.

It was needed here IMO. The team got fired up, and the Sens fans who were constantly getting out-cheered by the Habs fans actually had something to cheer about. Montreal only had 6 or 7 shots on goal after this fight I believe.

Huge turning point.

not at all. sens generation is 25-. Before that ottawa valley was all habs and leafs fans. It's hard to convert loyalties after childhood.

expect this for the next 20 years at least, until the habs and leafs fans die off. By then the 30 and 40 year-olds who make up the majority of the crowd will be the sens generation.

watch vancouver/edmonton/calgary games with the leafs in town now vs 20 years ago. It takes time to build a fanbase when the population is already hockey-crazed and fans of another team.

sure. but the canadiens only play 3(?) games in Ottawa and with Gatineau across the river the odds are stacked against the senators. I'd say that Ottawa is vastly Senators supportive. Not to mention the ticket prices during habs/leafs games. Sens fans might want other tickets while habs/Leafs fans don't have that luxury and are stuck with premium night.

Staubz got wrecked. Good fight by Neil he didn't even provoke that at all. Staubz dropped his gloves and got the jump on Neil. Neil the win...which in turn fired up Ottawa = a win

Neil won the fight, but wrecked is going a little overboard. And yes, Neil did provoke it. Staubitz was skating off and was intercepted by Neil. Just because he got the mitts off quickly doesn't mean that Neil wasn't looking to fight.
