Is it just me or does every time Sutter has a good offensive game (about once every 8-10 games) it's time to move him to the second line?

I've always felt that way and a few other posters do as well.

Same here, since his 20-goal campaign in his sophomore season I've wanted to see him get an extended look on the second-line. Keeping Sutter on the third-line, regardless of his production, was one of my biggest gripes of the Maurice regime. I hope it isn't the same with Muller.

Based off of what I read on the main board, I guess Jeff Skinner is the new Sean Avery with his constant dirty play. We always wanted one of our very own.

So you propose we take Slutty OFF Staal's line?

At the STH pregame skate Forslund touched on Sutter being the 2nd line center. He thinks Sutter will be with do time, its just that right now, they dont have that shutdown center. He compared him to Ryan Kesler, how he started out as the shutdown guy, then eventually moved up into a scoring role.

So would it be easier (given the budget) to get a 3rd line shut-down type guy rather than try to get a real 2C? Give Sutter a shot at the 2C? It would make that line better defensively and create less match-up problems, because right now it struggles in that regard.

I think Bleed originally stated it, but I think Sutter would be a very good winger on Staal's line. He has very good speed, extremely smart, underrated playmaker, good along the boards. I know it won't happen because it would leave too many holes elsewhere right now, but I'd like to see a line of Tlusty (if he continues to perform), Staal and Sutter to see how they could do.

I think an OT win made us all crazy last night. I think I celebrated almost as much as when we won the Cup. I see that late season move up into mediocrity coming.

I just read the GDT from the Caps fans, and apparently some believe that Skinner commit the dread slew foot, and there is much anger that someone didn't punch him out.

I had to pick up an out of town friend for dinner last night, so I was listening to Chuck on the radio, and only saw spots of the 3rd period at a Carolina Ale House, so I guess I missed all of the Avery-like fun.

Was it real, or simply imagined?

legit but it's not on par with a lot of the ones that we've seen in previous years (IE: Cherepanov on Sutter). Orlov and Skinner were heading towards the boards, Skinner gets underneath him a bit positioning wise and kicks his leg out a bit to brace for the hit. It catches Orlov's skate taking him out on the play, OV goes after Skinner, Gleason goes after OV, Orlov pushes (not hard) an official and gets 10.

Ah, so that's where Orlov's shove comes from. I did see that highlight last night at the Ale House, but missed the build up. Thanks for the update.

I recorded last night's affair, so I might have to do a quick review before tonight's game.

I didn't think "slew foot" when it happened and was surprised to see that accusation this morning.

Just saw the replay for the first time since last night.

http://www.washingtonpost.com/blogs/...html#pagebreak

LOL, no that's not a slew foot. Orlov elbows Skinner in the face. Skinner's head snaps back and his foot comes off the ice. Orlov slows down and falls over Skinner's leg. Nothing to see here.

Quote:
“I didn’t see the positioning of my feet,” Skinner said. “I just sort of stood my ground. He tried to come and hit me and he slipped. There’s not much I can do there. If he tries to step back and hit me, I can’t do much. I can’t sort of wrap my arms around him and protect him if he slips.”

LOL! Well, when you're playing like they have, pretty much any excuse to be generated by fans will do. Anxiety is high.

Probably dazed by the strong smell of alcohol on Gleason's breath.

Yeah, it doesn't seem like it's actual Caps fans keeping the issue alive. Only one comment about it on their GDT, and the ones in the main board thread don't seem all that upset. Just one of those things where everybody has to get their 2 cents in before we move on to the next thing.

I don't think Gleason was drunk last night, he just looked drunk because Corvo wasn't around to shutdown Ovechkin and co.

Ditto. I think any Caps fan can look at that team and see issues that need fixed, from the front office to the bench. They squandered a 2-0 lead, fell behind, tied, lost in OT. It's tough to put Skinner at the top of the laundry list of things that didn't go right last night.
