This would be a great example to show young children who need to understand the concept of double standard.

Phaneuf fights rookie Cowen = Phaneuf is awesome and tough.

Chris Neil WANTS to fight rookie Carter Ashton = he's a *******.

Clarke MacArthur fights non fighter Sergei Gonchar = he's awesome and the next Wendel Clarke.

Chris Neil fights non fighter Grabovski = he's a coward and only goes after non fighters.

Don't drink and post people.

Who was that 22 y.o. rookie?

1. Cowen got the instigator against Phaneuf

2. Clarke MacArthur is also a "non fighter", not just Gonchar

3. Chris Neil IS a FIGHTER

Hilarious that you compared Mac fighting Gonchar, both non fighting skill guys, to Neil fighting Grabo, "tough" guy versus a skill guy.

Don't drink and post people.

I dont' even know if the rookie was 22 or not, it was a rookie on the Rangers. Can someone else look it up, it was episode 3, I'm pretty sure. Its the only episode I seem to have deleted, for some reason.

Gonchar's last fight was Nov 27 1998... MacArthur gets into 2-3 fights every year and is known to be pretty good when he does drop 'em.

tl;dr MacArthur is friggen Bob Probert compared to SERGEI GONCHAR.

I hope Ashton doesn't have PTSD, he is one hell of a resilient guy for getting though such a harrowing experience.

According to HockeyDB:
Carter Ashton is 6ft3, 215lbs
Chris Neil is 6ft1, 209lbs

Experience doesnt mean anything. Its all about size, and I dont see anything wrong with Neil and Ashton. It's not like he went after Jake Gardiner...

Honestly... It always amaze me when people are being called "cowards" for fighting "non fighters"...If you fight, you aren't coward, period.

It makes me mad when agitators are labeled "cowards" for wanting to fight "skilled players" and turtling against trained roided goons. Agitators and pests ARE among toughest players in NHL (I don't consider guys like Steve Mcintyre real players) None of them is a coward.

League needs more Chris Neils.

Neil is a tool, and pretty much everyone knows it, but I don't see anything wrong with what happened here. Madness? THIS IS HOCKEY!!

Keep dreamin bud, rosehill and Orr would each tune Neil.... If Neil would fight either of them. And he's not afraid of any leafs? That's why he waited until there was no one who could fight on the ice to throw down. schenn was in the box, Gardiner, Grabo, frattin and Ashton. Ya he's not afraid of anyone Id actually like to see mike brown rag doll him too.

But Orr is not a player. Hell, Orr is not even in league anymore, while Neil is still rocking and bullying soft players

Wrong. It was Rupp going after a 22 year old on the Flyers. I believe it was JVR. Remember Rupp responding to Shelley calling him out by saying, "he's being a ****ing idiot."
