The problem is they're trying to keep both Carle and Grossman, but can only sign one before knowing how much the cap is next year.
I agree that he needs to stay, but someone would have to convince him that it's more important than Carle.
Carle should go the way of Leino in the offseason. Let him sign somewhere else for entirely too much money. He was a liability on the ice today, again. Grossmann is more important to this team anyway, and he'll come cheaper.

I don't mind having that happen, but one problem in letting Carle go despite his turnovers is a PMD that is truly trustworthy.

Were we watching the same game!?

He gets in the lanes, he'll grab and pull if he needs to and will skate his dick off to match up with top players.
He got no attention in Dallas and now that he's been in Philly he gets mentioned all the time and even got an article on NHL.com
Grossman has only played 15 games with us, and Id sign him in a second over a guy that has been here for 3 years. Why? because he is leaps and bounds better
Funny how two people can watch a game and see two completely different things. I must have cursed Carle's name three or four times (at least) this afternoon for making a dumb play and unnecessarily turning the puck over in his own zone. I really just don't want him here for the extended future at a $5 million AAV.

He is not a 5 million dollar defenseman. I would be happy with him at 4 million. Everyone has turnovers. Carle moreso than some, I'll concede that.
I think that hits on what the problem with Carle is. He's a top 4 defenseman on a good team, but he's going to get paid like a top 2 defenseman, and he's not worth that cap hit.
I don't really follow Dallas, but I'm curious to know why he "didn't work" in their system. I just find it surprising that he was disappointing enough for them to trade, when he's now doing so well on an upper-echelon team.

This is why you continue to see faults in his game. I am sure the rest of the game where he played well wen't unnoticed. Once you don't like a player, EVERYTHING they do tends to stick out to you.

Pro-Carle or Anti-Carle, he is going to be asking for way too much money for his skillset. Leino 2.0
If he is willing to take a discount and sign for around Coburn's salary (4.5 mil), thatd help us. Doubt it happens though. Would rather play Gustafsson at 900k than Carle at 5++ million
I'll just say that I'd love to have Carle for another few years at the cap hit he has now. For less than 3,5 per he's a very, very solid D-man. However, as we all know, he'll get at least 5 on his next deal, which is when he becomes expendable here. I'd rather keep Grossman and gamble that Gus will be ready to log some heavier minutes a year from now.
