Carolina takes the lead late!!!

And they win! 4 points up on the Habs and they have the tie-breaker.

Devastating loss for the Jets.

We have a 3 point lead over the 8th pick now, and it's basically 4 points as Toronto also has a tie-breaker on us.

MIN
EDM
CBJ
are unreachable

MIN really suck

I'm confident about getting the top 5 pick

the habs can only get the 21st pick at maximum (29th and 30th not out of reach)

very confused.

you're confident that the Habs will get withing the top 5 (so 26th place)

yet you don't think we can catch EDM and CBJ although you say the 29th and 30th (i.e. those two teams) are NOT out of reach.

How could we end up picking 21st (10th in the league...or is that 9th)?

I'm not sure he meant that but we can still pick first overall if we win the lottery.

IMO

Minny will go D if they pick by need, They only have Brodin there.
Granlund is in the top two prospects not in the NHL in the world IMO
Then they have Coyle, Phillips, Zucker, Larsson, Bulmer, etc all as fwds.

Oilers can use a C or a D if they go by need. Just not wing.
.
Both teams could also go BPA though.

Carolina and Columbus go BPA

MIN is one point back with 2 less GP,

CBJ is defintely unreachable, and EDM is unlikely

Sadly, it doesn't. Meh, I had an outside shot at first place and I took some risks at the trade deadline that didn't quite pay off. Better luck next year.

It seems not long ago we had 29th pretty much safe. 6 games later, I'm afraid of falling out of the lottery. Hell, almost certain we will. If we lose the next 3 games, we might have a chance. The other teams have schedules that are surely going to result in loses for them. 9 games left, common guys,

GO HABS GO!

How could Edmonton possibly go with another forward? Eberle, Hall and RNH will all command 5 million, then you add in someone like Grigorenko how do you build your defense? I know they could trade one off for a young elite defender but I think they would rather just pick one and develop him themselves. Oilers are way too stacked at forward, the last thing they need is another centre with Gagner, RNH, Lander and Pitlick all under like 24 years old.

Columbus will trade the pick IMO, I don't think they like Yakupov or want to pick him so they will trade down. Carolina is not a problem, they are playing much to well.

All the East Teams close to us seem to play each other down the stretch which is great.

We just need some regulation losses

Lander and Pitlick are not top 6 material IMO.

I just keep hearing from my Oiler fan friends that management has no faith in Gagner and have been trying to deal him for over a year.

As for having both RNH and Grigorenko, its never hurt to have a 1-2 punch down the middle and Eberle/hall means they'll each get a good winger.

On D they have Petry, Smid as young top 4s on the big club and have Klefbom (19th), Musil (31st) and Tuebert as highly drafted prospects. They could also use 32nd this year on a D and the goal if they move Gagner would be adding D.

If neither Lander or Pitlick can fill the 2nd line role then they have no top pairing dmen. Tuebert is one breathe away from bust, Klefbom and Musil have shown nothing and Petry is not top pairing. Smid is decent but is better on the 2nd pair.

I just dont think they waste a top pick on a 2nd line centre when they have no #1 dman and we all know how damn hard it is to get one.

Its harder to get a top line centre and thats what Grigo would give them, the 1A/1B that so many great teams have had over the years.

Klefbom was a WJC allstar who is currently playing big minutes in the SEL. He started the year as the 7th D on his team but is now top 2. I think he's developping very well.

I think they go with whoever the judge as BPA between the D and Grigorenko, and there is just no way of knowing where they will go there. Just my opinion but thats the impression I get from the Oil.

RNH is a top line centre, at best Grigo will be playing second fiddle to him. They could go either way I agree but I think it would be insane. I have heard people say Murray is ready to step right into the NHL, if that is true I can't see them not shoring up their abysmal defense.

I know they are all for the tank but god damn 3 years in a row top 2 picks? There will be a point when someone says enough.

Yes RNH is a true top liner, but having 2 number 1 Cs is usually extremely useful. Just ask the Pens who had two and still took Jordan Staal.

As for Murray being NHL ready, sure but NHL ready to be a 5/6 at 18 or to be a #1 D are two different things
