On that note, I wouldn't mind seeing
Marleau - Thornton - Couture
Clowe - Pavelski - Havlat
for a few games.
Yes, they play faster than they really are but they won't match up well against a quick team that can do the same thing. The Sharks third line last year got a taste of what happens when you don't have a speedy player that can handle the puck well.

I thought size and lack of physicality was the main reason that third line got dominated. When healthy, the 2nd line of Clowe - Couture - Heatley did pretty well, and none of them are fast skaters. And Couture - Thornton - Pavelski are a lot smarter and more creative that 2nd line.

I don't know, I just feel like Havlat has to be with one of Couture or Marleau. He hasn't shown any chemistry whatsoever with anyone else.

I feel like Pavelski needs to be returned to center. DW needs to stop being a cheapass and get an actual RW instead of re-using centers.

I like Fetus' top-6.

Well, that's not really fair because who else did he play with? Hasn't he only been centered by Couture, Marleau, and Handzus? He wasn't even bad with Handzus, so he should be fine with Pavelski.

Couture is a worse RW than Pavelski IMHO.

Clowe. Does not fit with Clowe at all.

Here's me just messing around with this lineup. God, I love our depth now.

Galiardi/Wingels-Thornton-Pavelski
Couture-Marleau-Havlat
Winnik-Moore-Mitchell
Clowe-Desjardins-Galiardi/Wingels

or

Marleau-Thornton-Galiardi/Wingels
Winnik-Couture-Havlat
Clowe-Pavelski-Galiardi/Wingels
Desjardins-Moore-Mitchell

or

Couture-Thornton-Mitchell
Marleau-Pavelski-Winnik
Clowe-Moore-Havlat
Galiardi-Desjardins-Wingels

There are many ways to skin a cat and speed, to me, was the best answer for this team overall. If they were quick enough, they don't get hit. The 2nd line last year was another line that was largely invisible against Vancouver and their lack of speed was a part in that.

I think the second line's lack of impact was mostly due to injury, actually. Heatley was paper-clipped together, Clowe's shoulder wasn't attached to his arm, and Couture had his nose broken. The main reason why the first line was the only one working well was because Marleau, Thornton (until the end of game 4), and Setoguchi were all healthy.

I missed all but the OT of this game. It was really pleasing to watch because I made money betting on the Sharks in Vegas and had just won a tourney game on a team with 4 Wings' fans that also got to watch the OT.

Didn't he show chemistry with Handzus?

Eh. They had a couple of nice passes, but overall I'd say no.

Hey with the way Handzus has been going, that is chemistry!

He had chemistry with Clowe and Couture. He simply had a slump after a while. Havlat is a skilled player and it shouldn't be hard to manufacture some chemistry with pretty much any of the other skilled players.
