Won't this affect contracts for Suter and Weber next year?

if anything, entices suter to stay. weber is ours barring a trade or not matching an offer sheet. Preds were planning on making a run at Parise, on top of keeping rinne-weber-suter, so yeah, the money is there.

Huh. What's up with this tweet?

Quote:
@SSimpsonHockey: Just spoke to Val Kamensky! Radulov will come over, but must return to Ufa next year!!! This guy can bring it, and plays NHL style hockey!
Surely Poile wouldn't agree to this.

of course he will, he can't agree to anything else.... (his option is tell him, no thanks for anything and stay in russia forever, or yes, come back and play this season)

he can't force him to sign another contract before he comes back.

an rfa can go back to russia legally, play, and then come back as a 27 year old, as an ufa..... and we get nothing.

he's coming for this season......period....that's it..... that's all he has to do.

I understand your skepticism pf98....

Im somehwat surprised that Poile hasnt already negotiated an extension... I would have thought that would be part of the deal..

but its also entirely possible that all rads wants to do is finish out his ELC then go home...

Poile has obviously decided it would be better to have him for this years playoffs than trade his rights for peanuts.... I tend to agree but if there isnt an extension announced shortly after he arrives, then dont get too used to him... he will be going back this summer...

Nice to see it seems confirmed - but after this last week, I'm not believing anything until I see him on the ice.

and if you really want to go tinfoil hat on this... if he comes over here and tanks, and we lose in the first round, he can still make it to the WC's and play for Russia....

Why is everyone getting freaked out over a tweet by someone that's clearly misinformed?

Nowhere has it been reported that Radulov "must" return to the KHL. Just that if he does, it has to be to Ufa.

Quotes from Radulov's agent on Puck Daddy....

Nikolaev added: "We have a contract with Salavat Yulaev on our hands. With a reservation that Alexander has a right to spend the 2012-2013 season overseas. After July 1 he will become a [restricted] free agent in the NHL and Nashville will make a contract offer. We will have something to compare it to, something to think about. If Radulov picks Nashville and there is a lockout, Alex will come back to Ufa without a problem. Or he will decide to start the new season in the KHL right away. Everything is in his hands."

Sounds like Radulov set himself up

If there is a lockout, he can play in the KHL and make coin

If he wants to stay in the NHL, he can buyout the contract with his new contract after his ELC is up.

Poile could:

Sign Radulov after the ELC

Possibly trade him to a team if Rads wants out but stay in the KHL. (Let's say to Poile's new buddy in Montreal if they get Roy as the coach)

Just to note, Chesnekov was just on TSN radio, and in the little bit I caught, he said he's back in the NHL now and he doesn't expect him to go anywhere. He also said he thinks he'll be a Predator next year too.

First, congrats, Nashville was a very potent team before this, now you have to believe they're likely to challenge to come out of the West. Having said that, do you guys feel any resentment towards Radulov for leaving the team and then coming back after all these years in this weird fashion? Just wondering, no offense intended, I'm excited he's back, for one.

Enough about his status next year. For certain, he's on his way to help us in the playoffs this season. So... let's talk line combinations and his acclimation to the NA ice.

With whom will Trotz place him? Considering AK was demoted last night (maybe Trotz trusted Borque more than AK to play defense protecting a 2-1 lead in the 3rd), I'd say all the lines are in flux, even Fisher/SK/Erat. At the end of the game last night, the lines were

SK - Fish - Erat
Horny - Leggy - Borque
Tootoo - Spaling - Halischuk
AK - Smith - Yip

Optimistically, Goose will be back (no cast or brace on his wrist) in a few games. How do you think TROTZ will add Radu to the mix? I don't want to know how you would put lines together. I want your best guess on what Trotz will do.
