Mez was good at checking and with his slap shot. Outside of that he has played weak this year, but with him being hurt that will lower his trade value in the off season. I do hope he can make a full recovery and come back with more of a sense of playing responsible hockey.

Surgery is always a last resort.

weak year or not, I'd rather have him in the line-up come playoff time than Lilja, Gus, Bourdon or Manning, etc...

Sux losing Meszaros to surgery but we get to round 2 in playoffs he should be back if we can get Kubina back before the playoffs i like our D going into the playoffs they are solid even with gus and manning but manning is emergency callup so we see Lijla i guess.

Yes you are right on that one. Lilja has been playing solid though lately

Hopefully Kubina is back really soon.

Timonen - Carle
Coburn - Grossmann
Kubina - Lilja/Gustafsson/Walker/Manning/Bourdon

That's still a good D core for the playoffs. Lilja has been playing well recently and will be well rested for the playoffs.

Eh, we won't really need him until the championship round, not too concerned.

The team's press release has been placed in the first post.

Kubina (getting closer to a return), Talbot and Lilja are all day-to-day.

Sometimes back injury masks itself as something else. He might have a radiating pain down the leg andmight have been treated for the leg issues till the MRI of the back was done.

...

It's likely that us, with a rejuvenated Bryzgalov, and the Penguins, with a fresh Crosby, are the two strongest/hottest teams heading into the postseason.

That said, we're also likely to square off unless the Rangers continue to slide.

I want first place because I want nothing of the Rangers, Penguins, or Devils in the first round. Even if we come out of that first round (and against all three of them it's a pretty big toss-up), we'll be beaten and worn from the ordeal.

So yeah, I want Meszaros now. We need him now. Kubina too.

I guess you need 9 games to determine that... Since even before March 3rd?

And I'm not sure how much the back has played into this. He makes extremely risky decisions that often backfire rather than make the safe play.

However, he was our only shot from the blue line (even though he misses alot) until we got Kubina.

Even thought it sucks that Mez is out, I still think we will pull through just fine.

I guess we just have to get used to the fact that this team just can't get healthy.

I bet the day JVR returns, we will lose someone else to LTIR.

We're winning without being healthy anyway. Getting back JVR, Talbot and Kubina will be a + in the playoffs.

Bummer. Those SC hopes just got a little smaller. Gonna need some serious stepping up from someone on the blue line.

Speaking from experience, back injuries are tricky and the treatment plan is kind of trial & error/wait & see. It isn't clear cut like treating a broken bone.

Disc issues can often resolve themselves with PT & time. Other times they require cortizone shots. If all else fails, surgery is the last resort.
