Dempsey...

Is it just me or this guy has been playing really well lately? I think he looked really good against Chicago and Dallas. Whether its killing penalties or playing 5-5, I really think he's stepped up his game. It looks like he's playing with a lot more confidence and he's comfortable out there. I think he's jumping into the play at the right times and he's taking the body a little bit more aggresively. Obviously, I want to see us get another d-man but if, he steps up then it would really help us.

This is the way he used to play in St.John's in the AHL years ago. He really is a great defenseman!!!! I just don't know what happened to him most of this year.!!

He blows, and one or two games isn't going to save this guy. 90% of the time he just refuses to move his feet. He also dishes off problems, and misses out on crisp passes because of it.
When Matti was struggling, it had everything to do with his partner (line mate) whatever the technical people want to call it!
I can't wait until he's gone. It's scary how bad a fifth/sixth defenseman is needed these days.

It's been more than just one or two games actually. Really, he actually played exceptionally well for a third pairing guy last season. Then, of course, he was dead awful this season but he has turned it around for close to a month now. Tough to say which is the real Dempsey but I do like him as a #7 guy since he is fairly versatile. However, he isn't consistent enough to be an everyday defenseman.

Yeah,,,he was very good for the team last year...kicked in some good offense and was all-around solid. Maybe it's the new NHL?

I agree with a couple of you that its been just more then a couple games. But lately his game has been standing out in a very postive way to me. I guess he just really adjusted to the new NHL. Better late then never...

...

Is this the closest we'll get to a Dempsey Appreciation Thread?

His last few games have been good, better than Weaver's last few. The one thing I've noticed is he is crashing the net ala Blake(not a comparison ). Hope his play continues to improve the rest of the season and beyond.

That's how Dempsey scored quite a few goals. I like Dempsey, I do, but he had a tough start to the year, but the guy was money last season. I still think he can be a good #6.
