Anyone think the Jays can make the playoffs this year?
I hope they can

I still think there aren't enough playoff spots though.

I wouldn't mind seeing the division leaders clinch a spot in the divisional series, and the 4 best non-divisional winners play a page playoff for the open divisional series spot

What a terrible fit for Peyton. They have to completely revamp their offense now.

On the other hand the Chiefs pick up Hillis, Quinn and Winston. Winston being the big prize at RT they needed.

Should be favorites to win the division. Though I'm wary of Crennel as head coach. Love him as a defensive co-ordinator but HC is sketchy.

I'm just upset because I used to love Peyton. Now I have to hate him.

My short answer would be, possibly. The extra wildcard definitely helps their chances greatly.

Having played baseball a lot in life, makes it easy to watch it for me. But then again, most people who have played, can't stand watching it. Much rather play then watch. I find it relaxing

A blend of the two is ideal. With three downs, there's not enough time to get a run game established.

Bleh.

I just saw a piece on ESPN saying Green Bay was a "Medium Probability" destination for Tebow.

No thanks. Not interested. Ever. I'd honestly rather Jamarcus Russell. Akili Smith, even. Just not Tebow... way too much of a distraction for a backup QB, and he's got big time playoff bonuses built into his contract.

Jacksonville seems like a good a spot as any for him to land.

Peyton is signing a 5 year deal? WTF? I know the Broncos are a joke organization but this takes the cake.

NFL contracts do not = NHL contracts

Nobody cares about contract length in the NFL because the contracts aren't guaranteed. Peyton receives guaranteed money in the first three years of that deal, but if after the 2014 season the Broncos want out of the deal, they can get out of it for free. In fact, Peyton has to pass a physical in 2013 in order to even trigger the 2013 & 2014 years of the deal, so Denver has managed to negotiate an injury out clause in the deal if Manning re-injures his neck this year.

HARDLY a joke of a contract. It's the opposite, actually: a coup for Denver.

Eric Decker & Demaryius Thomas.

Very underrated. They were useless in the "No-Throw Tebow" system, but I imagine they're both going to have breakout years, as they both clearly have skill, they just needed a QB to throw to them.

I also imagine they're going to look to add a WR3 like Early Doucet now that Manning is in the fold, though. Or maybe a cheap vet like Lee Evans.

They'll also need a TE, but I imagine Dallas Clark will be Elway's next phone call. Re-uniting Manning-Clark seems like too much of a no-brainer not to get done. A familiar target will do wonders for the both of them.

New Orleans Saints Penalized

Saints coach Sean Payton has been suspended for one year, former defensive coordinator Gregg Williams was suspended indefinitely, general manager Mickey Loomis was suspended for the first eight regular-season games, the team was fined $500,000 and lost two second-round draft picks (one in 2012 and '13) as a result of a bounty program conducted by the team during the 2009-11 seasons.

Saints assistant coach Joe Vitt also was suspended six games and fined $100,000. The NFL said in its statement that the suspensions for Payton, Loomis and Vitt are without pay

Gregg Williams may have a lifetime ban, this is absolutely terrifying. Would love to see Bettman try to get away with something like this. Really reminds me of Bertuzzi strike on Moore

Defensive coach Gregg Williams ran a bounty program where players got money for knocking other teams players out of the game or injuring them.

It'll be interesting to see if any players who were injured by the Saints that season sue the NFL.

Players and defensive co-ordination would pay 50K if they could knock a player out of the game if they take off a players helmet. And this is not the end of the punishment, soooo many suspensions are coming to the players on the Saints

Nobody will beileve me but I remember when they went to the super bowl I was the only person I knew not cheering for them. People would ask me why and I would say because based on some of their hits on Warner and whichever other qb they injured, it looked like there was intent to injure

Wow, that's massive. I'd heard little bits about it, but hadn't realized that it was organizational. The obvious question to me is: what other organizations are doing it? Do people believe that it was just an isolated case?

Edit: Turns out, yes.
