I am in week 6 of grade 2+ mcl injury. I am 50+ and am no athlete but walk 10+ miles per week with average other athletic endeavors. Driveway Bball etc. While I continue rehab, even 6 weeks later it takes very little for my knee to "slide/slip out of socket, they call it displacment. I could NOT keep it in place for at least 10 days without heavy brace. It is very painful, no surgery, and I am still looking at 4 more weeks of wearing re-inforced knee brace just to walk. Helm being an athlete with much more developed knee/leg muscles and only being a grade 2 as opposed to grade 2+ should make it easier but he is looking at 1-2 weeks time of NO pressure on leg and then stationary bike riding before going into squats, lunges and the other myriad of rehab exercises for the next 2-8 weeks. It has to affect his conditioning just for the forced down time. It will remain weak for a time after that period. I do NOT wish this on anyone!
