Apparently the Oilers were dominated more tonight than the Leafs were dominated by the Bruins last night.

Love the sarcasm...good job.

You haven't convinced me that this is enough for Tambo.

He has had 2 years to look at this roster.

I can't believe they won. Nashville was dominating early and had some lucky goals scored against them. God I hope they don't lose that #2 draft position.

Toronto is falling so hard. Its pretty inevitable.

Its what happens when you do nothing at the deadline and think Carlyle can do better than Wilson (like i said, they are the same damn coach! too old school)

I had a hockey game tonight and therefore never got to see the game. How come Petrell only played 3 mins. Did he get hurt?

Good game by dubby - nice rebound control.

Good to see hartsy and eager being physical. Man Hal gill is huge.

we've won 4 of our last 5 games in Music City.

I guess the boys like country music

The wins have been big

6-3, 6-2, 4-0, 6-1 (stortini game!)

Now I will be the first to admit that I'm not a believer in Dubnyk being a #1, but he's every bit as good a goalie as Khabibulin and most certainly has been better since the new year began.

Since the start of January Dubnyk has a .919 sv%, Bulin has an .889 sv%.

Maybe Dubnyk does get better run support than Bulin (I'm not sure I haven't checked goals for in each of the games they've started), but that does not account for the massive gulf between the save percentages.

In the same span of time
Bulin is 1-9-3
Dubnyk is 13-8-2

That is a shocking difference. Far too great of a gap to account for the team simply playing better in front of one goalie. Bulin had an ungodly first month and 1/2 or so. Since than he has just been plain bad.

Missed the first half.

- Duby was great. I read these comments here about him, but lets be fair, he has started to play better the last few games. Far more composed, his angles are great, and he is using his big body better. Far less mistakes as well. People forget he is quite young and will still let in the soft goal, but it takes a long time to develop as a goalie. He's playing now like a number 1 goalie should.
- Nice to see Hemsky get 3 goals. It's been the 2006 version of Hemsky lately, just unlucky with goal posts, goals called back and absolute robbery from the other teams goalies. This time, the luck finally turned. I expect we will be hearing a lot from him the rest of the season at least.
- The kids did okay against the best defensive pair in Hockey. Wouldn't read anything into that, Jones is not a good fit against Weber/Sutter. BTW, RNH did hit 2 goalposts today
- Smyth looked very tired, but his value is in the PK as well. Played a big part in killing the 5 on 3.
- Whitney still can't skate from his injury. Maybe he's done as a top 4 unless he can get his mobility issues fixed this summer.
- Refs were even more horrible than they usually are.
- The Nashville Ice Girls rule.

No way in hell the team should have won this one, but it happens.

It's too bad Hartikainen seems to have consistency issues. If he could play like he did tonight for a whole year we would have ourselves a real gosh darned player.

Big strong bull not afraid to get dirty with nice hands to compliment him. Where was this guy in training camp and in his first call-up?

yup, and it was pretty obvious too, i turned the game on right when they were booing the no goal and the nashville commentators were going on and on about a bad call (i didnt realize what happened with the oiler goal at that time), but as soon as they showed the oiler goal and compared the non goal to it, i said to myself that we were getting a 5 on 3 called against us within a few minutes and even though i knew it was coming, i was shocked at the call on smid, he wasnt even near the pred player, but because the guy "fell down" they got the call (and every call after that too)...it was pathetic, but whatever, it didnt work, but i gotta give props to the crowd there, they were friggin LOUD!! Good atmosphere for what was basically an unimportant game for both teams (standings-wise). Sounded like a playoff game though.

good job by hemsky.
gives me some hope for him next year.

good column by Terry Jones this mornnig. helps sink home what a joke of a franchise this team has become.
the telling point was the fact the oilers are the worst team in the league since the lockout and salary cap evened up the playing field, and what the Oilers have led the league in is excuses.
If this doesn't help clarify what a joke management is and what a joke the Oilers have become, nothing will.

“It’s kind of funny that the Oilers finally got their CBA that leveled the playing field and then, all of a sudden, there was some other reason they couldn’t win. It was Chris Pronger. Then it’s because Edmonton is a bad place nobody wants to live. Then Craig MacTavish. Then unhappy veterans. It’s never the guys who hire those guys for some reason.”

One thing that's been a bigger joke than the Oilers' record.

Terry Jones.

The guy is on Michael Moore's level as far as being the fat guy that constantly whines because nobody's ever liked him.

Nope, these are the lines that Hemsky did best on....

Hall-Gagner-Hemsky
Hall-RNH-Hemsky
Hall-Horcoff-Hemsky
Hartikainen-Gagner-Hemsky

See the common theme? Give Hemsky a bull like Hall or Hartikainen on his LW and he excels, the center has been irrelevant.
Hemsky struggled when Hall was on the kid line and Smyth was flanking him.

I've said many times.... RNH-Eberle and Hall-Hemsky are the combos that work best and now Hartikainen-Hemsky although i think that Hartikainen would work well on the RNH-Eberle line when Hall returns.

Hartikainen was fine in training camp, most of us were clamouring for him to be on the opening night roster because he played well in training camp and he was fatigued from the ridiculous AHL schedule in his first call-up.
He had been playing very well by most accounts in OKC before this call-up and it seems that he has taken that momentum to the NHL. It would be huge if he can turn into that top 6 Holmstrom type for us then again, where does Paajarvi play if that happens? Will be interesting.
