Trotz on 102.5 was asked what the lines would be with the addition of Rads.
He said he is going to try Rads with Legwand and Horny on the 2nd line and move AK to the third line with borque and Spaling.
Said Yip is going to be a mainstay and that Smith, Toots, and Hali will be fighting for the wing spot.
He also sounded like due to Rads tough 48 hours he is not sure about him playing Thur. I would not be expecting him to play. Trotz said without a doubt Rads will be in the lineup Saturday night.

What about Wilson. They sounded like he was good to go last night, they kept him out to be save

Did not mention him. He is hurt and i would imagine Trotz is being careful with him since he will be needed for the big week next week and playoffs. When Wilson comes back he is going to Anchor the 3rd line and i imagine Spaling will be scratched.

That sucks.

That 3rd Line is garbage, and any linup with Yip included sucks. What has he done to be a mainstay?

Erat - Fisher - SK
Rads - Legwand - Hornqvist
Smith - Wilson - AK
Spalling - Gaustad - Tootoo

I just hope Wilson's injury is not a return of the groin injury he had when he was first called up to the Preds and took a looooooong time to heal.

Has anyone heard anything about Josi? Has he even skated? I'm afraid no news is bad news.
He's critical for us, imo.

just saw the above post.... if gaustad is well, i would put him on third line center..... they need experience on that line....and i like the way he plays. put wilson on the wing on that line.

The third line you posted is filled with talent not sure what players you are watching.
Besides the lines you mentioned are not what was said. The third line would be borque/wilson/ak and the 4th line would be yip/goose/smith,toots,hali. I would imagine that Spaling and Yip would be fighting for the other wing spot as well.

I heard somewhere that Josi will be back in the lineup soon. I would say you will see him this weekend.

Wilson is not going to play center. He is too poor defensively for Trotz.

I think our centers is set: Fisher Legwand, Spaling, Goose, Smith is a center back up.

That linup was my desired lines.

The third line mentioned by Trotz is the one that sucks (AK-Spalling-Bourque).

Josi hasn't skated as of yesterday. I read/heard he's progressing. My guess is he's riding the bike. And though I haven't read/heard a specific diagnosis, I assume it's the dreaded concussion.

Correct me if I'm wrong, isn't the progression to ride the bike without symptoms, then skate without symptoms, light contact, and then full practice?? I also believe players have to skate for one week without symptoms to be cleared for games. Is that correct?

I want to roll:

sk-fish-erat
rads-leggy-wilson
ak-spaling-horn
smith-gaustad-bourque

you have 7 pk forwards still. You cannot roll with fewer than that withough asking for trouble. You can mix and match your bottom six. need more offense? smith and spaling swap. same if you want a checking line. Wilson playing like ****? move ak up a line. Bourque looked ok there last noght. lots of options

Man I really hope he plays Thursday. Two contenders who could conceivably meet in the SCF and both teams with intriguing background storylines in Crosby and Rads' returns. Guarantee that hockey fans everywhere would tune into that game if their team wasn't playing, and I bet it would have a great almost playoff-like energy.

Not thrilled about the 3rd and 4th lines but I really like the 2nd line. Rads shoots, Horny cleans up, and Legwand defends.

I think bourque is the placeholder for wilson on that line. I think then he bounces yip from the lineup and we have an energy line again.

I still would rather see Halischuk over Tootoo.

Really great news about Josi. As long as there aren't any setbacks, he could be back in a week or so?? I'm also ready to see a skilled player like Willy back in the lineup. I know Willy and AK are a little weak defensively, but they could light the lamp on the same line. Maybe w/ Spaling back checking they'd be ok.

No change on PP1, PP2 was AK/Leggy/Radu with SK/Ellis on the points.

It's smart of this team to have so many spare forwards. In fact, with Rads back, this team has 2/3rds of a sixth line.

Minor changes in today's practice lineup.
Forth line 24-28-18

The rest are the same.
I guess Trotz liked what he saw last game.
15 and 22 on scratch line.

59 and 33 absent.

Goose said he feels good and ready to go.

"The coaching staff -- from Trotz through the assistants -- all mentioned the Penguins as a blueprint for the Preds line-up plans. The Pens play three scoring lines and one high energy line. Coach Trotz and staff are trying to establish a similar set up with the Fisher, Legwand, and Spaling lines providing offense and the Gaustad line giving a physical defensive match-up element."

The problem is - Fisher, Legwand and Spaling are not even close to Malkin,Crosby and Staal...
