Everybody knows but I'll say it anyways. Big four point game for the Jets on Friday. Hopefully playing the Flyers tomorrow will tire down the Capitals for us.
Here is a little random bit of the Manitoba Washington rivalry
I keep thinking I might have trouble getting excited for the later games if they lose and they're out of it but then I remember that I never really expected them to be in the playoff race this late in the season. Hopefully they win Friday, Washington stumbles down the stretch and the Jets can sneak in with 6 wins in their last 9, but even that's still doubtful.
Regardless of whether the team makes the playoffs, I hope they beat Washington on Friday. Not only do I think that doing well and at least coming close to the playoffs does more for the team than coming last and getting a lottery pick, I genuinely dislike the Caps and want to see them fail. Even if this team finishes 9th and doesn't get a great draft pick, the expectation for next year will be clearly set at making the playoffs and that could help attract free agents in the summer more than if the team fell to 12th for example.
I wonder if Holtby will be in net for the Caps? He played their last game in Det. I think the Jets will win in Wash but still finish out of the playoffs by two points/tiebreaker. Nevertheless, what a beauty season, they were 10-1-1 in the 12 games I saw live, what a great year!
Watching the game then making the 4 1/2 hour drive to Nashville afterwards, so stoked! Hope it will still be a meaningful game. They HAVE to win in regulation in D.C or else it's better luck next year.

That's pretty cool that you'll get to see a couple games. Are you going to be wearing a Thrashers jersey to the games or did you get a Jets jersey?
This is our season IMO.
Perhaps not in reality, but in perception. I think everyone, players included, will struggle to not pack it in if we lose.
I don't have a good feeling about it, but if we play our best it's our game for the taking.
Turn out the lights the season's over they say that all good things must end
Let's call it a night the season's over and tomorrow starts the same old thing again
What a crazy crazy season never seen so many people
Skating shootin look at you you're havin' fun
But look at me I'm almost cryin' but that don't keep your love from dyin'
Misery cause for me the season's over
Turn out the lights...
Once I had a love undyin' I didn't keep it, wasn't tryin'
Life for me was just one season and then another
Broke her heart so many times had to have my season wine
But one night she said sweetheart the season's over
This is our season IMO.

I agree wpgsilver.
If the Jets lose on Friday I think it will be hard for the team to maintain their intensity for the remaining games.
Let's face it, after the disaster that was January, this team has been playing very emotional, full effort (mostly) hockey. It's tough to keep that up, and if the Caps win tonight, AND win tomorrow against us, it might be enough to deflate the Jets sails.
I realize that this is the PGT for the Caps game, but with the above being said I really hope the Jets can at least put in a good effort in Nashville on Saturday, win or lose tomorrow night.
There will no doubt be some Thrasher faithful in attendance, and it would be nice for them to be able to at least see the Jets compete.

I'm leaving for Nashville myself, early Saturday morning! I wish the Jets played the Preds more then once a year. I guess I could always drive to Raleigh, NC but that's almost 7 hours compared to the 4 it takes to get to Nashville.
I'm just super excited to see the Jets play live, even if it's not a meaningful game. However, I hope it is! haha

you will get your wish soon with how the new realignment will shape up when it happens

It'll be super meaningful if we can win tomorrow. Should be fun nonetheless!
The next "biggest game" of the season. It's exciting, that's for certain. I find myself so wound up by the end of the game that I can't go to bed for another couple of hours.
However, the reality is that a horrific slide in January is what's got the Jets in 10th place right now. Had the Jets played January's games at the same win percentage as February and March, we would be discussing in the GDT whether or not the Jets would be vaulting ahead of the Panthers into 3rd in the conference. The Jets season will be defined by the general public by what occurs in the next two weeks, but we all know the Jets are presently reaping what they sowed back in January.
I hope the Jets win, and I hope they can manage to sneak into the post-season; if they do, they will have surpassed my expectations by a large margin.
Go, Jets, Go!
